they are trying to figure out how to get every player in every division on an all conf then all state team. Do not want to hurt anyone's feelings. Season has been over for weeks. Everyone knows who the players are that should make it. Coaches and AD's are getting ready for the onslaught of calls and emails on why Nancy did not make it.

It’s a terrible injustice how all state selection is done.
They say 22 spots. Then divide them up by conference. FCIAC gets 6, CCC gets 6 etc.
Then they say for each conference, this school gets 2, this school gets 1, etc.
Then the school gives it to their top player or players.
None of this takes into account what players actually do on the field.
A school could have 3-5 deserving all state players and only get 1 because of how they divide the pie. They want to spread out the awards regardless of play on the field.
Let’s also be real here too, most high school coaches could not identify talented players if their life depended on it.
And like another poster said, this is all done before conference and states. Tournament success should influence how this pie is divided as well.
Just look at the boys LL. Players at small conferences got all state but I bet they would not even be a starter at the big powerhouse schools.

They don’t divide by conference because conf doesn’t matter with individual awards- strength of conference does matter
Schools don’t vote for their own kids so you have to get others to vote for your kid- what they do on the field actually does matter- some schools do get more than 1
Most coaches today are club coaches and do this everyday but we should let you ( who knows what exactly) evaluate all the talent
The reason playoffs aren’t included is not everyone participates and you had 16 games to show what you have
There are good players all across the state in the small conferences as well

Keep in mind that a top player in a small conference may not pass the eye test against tougher competition of larger / stronger conferences. So how can they really deserve “all state”
I have watched this happen in the playoffs for 20+ years.

The lists are not out as they are preparing for damage control once they are posted. Hard hats being passed out and lawyers getting ready to fend off the masses. Word on the street is several coaches want 4 + kids from their teams on the all state teams. Others took offense.

Haven’t seen the girls list yet, but here’s the Boys numbers by class:
Class S - 22 total - 2 defenders
Class M - 24 total - 3 defenders
Class L - 24 total - 3 defenders
Class LL - 23 total - 2 defenders
Disclaimer - my kid is not a defender

Per previous posts seems there is a gag order to those coaches, members involved. Letters were sent to those who made the teams being chosen. They know when the awards dinner is. Looks like its a rap.
