Good thing no one challenged and shut down Jimmy Conway like that when he first struck out to coach. What does your Soccer pedigree look like? Does your daughter's coach inspire her like Tobin does to the GDA players? Does he go out and show them how to do skill moves that he used in World Cup games?

The Beaverton cup was fun and got a trophy. Super low level tournaments last year was not good developmentally but who cares when you are winning. Have to look at the bright side.

I hear they are hosting Celebrity Rehab with Abby wamback, hope solo and Tanya Harding at practices. Authographs $25 plus photo $150.

Tanya is on the Crossfire ECNL staff. Second/Third tier stuff. Nothing to see there.

Thorns are now only playing in the tier one division called US Soccer Development Academy. It's subsidized and the program takes care of everything including top competition. No more Beaverton Cup. Beaverton Cup is still a top local tournament though. Nothing wrong with that. Beats BSC's 3v3.

Call it what you want, GDA is clearly not the 1st tier. Might be 2nd tier in some areas. More like 3rd tier in Oregon.

Can't believe people are bashing having Tobin as a coach. Thorns Academy is playing in a weak league this year but is pulling out all the stops and sounds like an incredible option for many. Encl bashers are just as bad. Ecnl is the best competition level for Oregon girls and allows for more outside activities and other soccer too and only costs about 4-5k/year. Local club OYSA & travel tournaments also work well for many kids. Can't we just be happy for all the girls and support their choices and whichever path they choose?
