The quality of play is bad for most games, but as long as people stay uneducated about how few soccer scholarships are available, they will keep the kids off high school teams chasing their pipe dreams. 9.9 scholarships per team for d-1. That's total, not per year. It drops to 9 for d-2 and none for d-3. Unless you are the best of the best, play high school soccer and relish the opportunity to wear your school colors. 10 years form now you will be kicking yourself for not doing it.

Funny, we play tournaments DURING HS season. Players get burnt out, not teams. many HS players don't play together in club. the players that make up your local HS team probably come from many clubs.

Girls have a much better chance of playing in college. There are more girls teams than boys team and they also have more scholarships per team. Then to add insult to injury, many boys spots are given to foreign players.

You mean, "During the week (M-F)?" Not entire week? Right? I think I'm getting that comprehension thing?

Yes, most club teams have a practice on weekends or on an off HS soccer day. Our HS Varsity boys team practices every day of the week when there is no game plus every Saturday. Isn't this too much? If a player misses a practice may not play first half or entire game.

for HS this is insane. its that good 'ole boy mentality in the HS that keep stupid stuff like this going. at least at our school it is.

Let me guess, it is a Religious/Catholic School. The ADs care little for the students or how the coach treats the players. Their agenda is to just hide the behavior under whatever rock they can get it under. Because it is not a public school, the coach's are never held accountable even though they are the worst bullies at the school.

That's a lot of soccer and training, and the HS coach must know that the players play or practice club on weekends? We used to be with a club that insisted that club players practice during week, so after high school, players would go to club for two+ hours. Sometimes, the players would practice 4-5 hours a day. The players became exhausted and injuries galore!

then the HS coach should examine what they are doing. it sounds like the school belives they are the better trainer, but probably just an over inflated ego. the club should have priority.

Are there any FYSA guidelines about no club soccer games during HS season?
