To do that they give up a beloved coach and get what? The loose the ability to get into Surf so tell me where the positives are for that team?

If I was a top girl at their age I would be trying to make THAT roster!
    Who/what are you talking about?

If you read the blue shaded box you would see the reference was about the WST-TS 16's.

You must be referring to the non-existent blue shaded box with that info in it. It's nice to know that people on here are not passive-aggressive a*holes.

Thorns Academy will not be TS

The idea that the Thorns Academy will be a TS offshoot is absurd. Granted the current U16 TS girl's team has a solid record. Nevertheless, TS doesn't have a U15 girl's team. The entire team left TS before the end of the season two years ago when their DOC took over. The current U14 team placed 5th in last fall's OPL league. Most of the current U14 players who tried out for their RTCs didn't make it, much less the ODP State Pool. Any Thorns Academy will need to take players on from a wide range of clubs to be sustainable. The people in charge of the Thorns Academy/ODP know where their players have been coming from and will plan accordingly.

They might not be the best on a skills basis, but they are head and shoulders above the ECNL players at this level. And as athletes, it's not even close.

3 or 4 maybe. But certainly not the entire roster.

You're right, the bottom two or three. Or is it just luck that they have won three of the past four leagues they have been in since forming? They've lost one FWRL game in two years. And your coach is recruiting them heavily for ECNL. But sure, they are unskilled and unathletic.

They have yet to play in a strong league. Step up to ECNL and show your stuff, or sit on the sidelines and play OYSA against Rec+ teams...

                        On the other hand

So the argument against the ECNL is that they are too expensive and we don't have enough talent to fill two teams and they both will get beat sooooo bad that they will not benefit from the experience.

What happens if the WST-TS 16's don't come over? How good will the Academy team be?

But they might get some of the precious wins I keep hearing about because the competition sucks. Woot! My DD gets another cheap medal!

That is a good point. The same parents that get excited about ODP will eat that up!

So what happens to the quality of the Academy if the Copa girls don't tryout? 80% of the best OPL girls are doing ECNL so without the Copa team could they qualify for regionals? No Regionals no Surf!
