Anyway, the GW was responsible for keeping the DOCs in line. When the complaints became too much, and he didn't do enough, the board had to step in.

P.S. Your "Do the math" line is nonsense. You must see that.
Team managers were told by board members just last Monday that the primary reason the DoCs were let go is that they were believed to be the cause of the 200+ premier player losses over the last year. They did mention that most of the losses were on the girl's side (Gary had youngers, Sunny the olders).

Rumor now is that at least one of the outgoing DoCs already has a new club in the north Portland area and is pulling boys with him to that club...

      Memo to the VT Board

Do not worry about what coach or DOC went where and took how many players with them. Think long term and work on developing a professional business plan and finding a charismatic and ambitious GM to implement that plan which will include hiring and training coaches and making sure the DOC's implement the agreed upon style of play all the was down the line. Focus on bringing in outside talent to the board to augment the range of talent and experience with which to evaluate the progress and effectiveness of the GM and the DOC's in carrying out the mission as stated in the business plan.

This is not about yesterday or even today it is about one and two years from now when you have installed the turf at Vancouver Ford Field and can practice under the lights surrounded by fencing lined with sponsors signage! When you get to that point the flow of coaches and players will reverse.

However "reacting" with short term moves or appeasements to keep coaches who are not on board for the long term is the worst thing you can do.

If Eihab is gone, that just leaves Sunny and Gary to apply for the open position.

You are assuming that there will not be any outside DOC's apply! I would not bet the house on that. The question is will the Board have the courage to chart a "new" direction?

Who would want to? It will only be the prior two mentioned and some prior coach from the good ol boy network. PP or DW. There will be no new blood. I say no way on the "new" direction.

PP doesn't coach there anymore and DW is far from a top coach. Maybe top at WT-FC but what does that say?

Studs will be the new GM. Just watch.

Wasn't he a DoC or assistant DoC at Lake O a few years ago?

The "GW" or rather GM was not given the power to keep the docs in line and when efforts were made the board did not support him. The board turned a blind eye when they knew the docs were an issue even before they hired the GM.

My understanding is that Eli was not given hiring and firing authority over the DoCs. Without that, he had both hands tied behind his back.
