Rural areas and smaller cities now account for half of all covid cases and deaths.
An NPR analysis finds that the share of COVID-19 deaths outside places considered large metro areas by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has grown dramatically since the country passed its first 100,000 deaths. Then, about a fifth of deaths came from places outside large metro areas. In the second 100,000 deaths, that share jumped to nearly half.
The largest growth occurred in small towns and rural areas, where the share of deaths nearly tripled.

If NYC were a country it would rank at #12 for total Covid deaths.
Of those top 12 countries, #7 Peru is the worst in terms of Covid deaths per 1M citizens at 955.
NYC has a death rate of 2,830 per 1M.
NYC was the epicenter of a worldwide pandemic.
NYC has significantly more deaths than any state in the U.S., other than NY of course.
Because NYC responded so poorly the rest of the country was thrown into a lockdown that crippled the U.S. economy.

The blame is with Trump, and only Trump, as he and his admin knew early on the potential scenario.
