Default The Youth League

Anybody have any insight or opinions on the new NYCFC developmental youth league that they are calling The Youth League?

Am a City fan and have been for a long, long time. Am unhappy with how NYCFC has begun, the whole Lampy thing and playing in a baseball stadium. However, I am confident City have the money to make this happen.

Here's a link, http://www.empireofsoccer.com/ground...-league-32019/. I think this will be good for the boys, but unfortunately for TS, City are ignoring the girls's side (it's not a girls' sport over there).

It won't help the USMNT because this system will cater to those foreigners this forum often complains about. It should give some strong development, but whether it is better than DAP remains to be seen. Girls have no place in soccer, so ignoring them is the right thing to do.

Sounds like the OW elitist from the DAP thread. How do you OW girls parents like being represented by this jerk? Go Oakwood.

Hey genius, it's not competing with DAP. All MLS teams HAVE TO field Academy teams. This league is for boy's teams, u11, u10, u9. These are the years preceding Academy (u12 Acedemy starts fall 2016). Read the damn article!

I think you need to read about the program before you comment on it. You can't compare it to DAP - it's U9-U11. DAP doesn't being until U13 currently and U12 in fall 2016. This is just feeder program for the affiliate clubs, most of which have some or all of the DAP age groups, and likely NYCFC's academy in the future.

I hear NEP is starting a training wheel league catering to U5, U6, and U7s which was then trumped by a diaper and binky league for U2, U3, and U4s. In Utero league accepting applications for Fall 2016 too ..... fetuses should be in second or third trimester on August 1st, so plan your pregnancy schedules accordingly.

This is great news. This model is used by several top European youth academies. They run these leagues to help keep focus on developments and keep tabs on area talent. Allows them to help guide area coaches/clubs to focus on things that help themin the long run develop talent. Lot easier to further develop talent that does not have a lot bad habits learned at prior club that has priorities that are inconsistent with long term development of players.

Some may be skeptical but this seems like an sincere effort to help develop area talent. Lot better and more ambitious than Red Bulls and RDS.

The for profit leauges EDP/MSSL, NYCSL, ECNL are created to market preimer soccer to parents and people running these leagues often pick profits growth of the leauge over development. What started out a solution to issues of state run leagues has become a huge cash cow at the expense of development.

DAP is about money like everything else. It will be U10 before you know it. Then what? Planning is not NYCFC's strength. Go Lampard!

Wrong. If it were about money, they'd have implemented the girl's side already.
