Is it really though? Isn't the masses of people protesting in our streets more disheartening, for the same reasons you suggest it? If this virus is truly in our community, then we will see a spike in cases. Which will shut down the counties, again. And club soccer will not be an issue or subject of discussion.

nah, they do the virtual/video training only. if you see SCA jerseys at buckman, it's purely individuals getting together and training together, informally.

I am seriously considering having my son take the year off and I know I will take a ton of heat from many of you on this site...
        Good luck with that approach.

          For sure
Not UPDX, but did have over 150 kids doing their online training last night. Not sure will be on field before 4th of July. There is an argument that is too long, but it is what it is.

I do see UPDX, PCU, SE, SCA, Bridges, Crossfire kids at different parks in the city, often solo, with an adult (often seems to be a parent), or in groups up to 3 or 4; don't have a problem with it.

Yep, they have. And they have been continuing the spread, and keeping the #'s consistent enough that we will never have soccer this fall. Idiots. Also, please keep in mind that most health experts are calling for a second wave this fall, so unless there is a vaccine that has been approved, and is easily available to access, all of this talk will lead right back where we have been. They (land owner) create their own guidelines which will not exceed the county or state's guidelines. Confusing stuff for sure.

What you hear is simply that. What is allowed is up the land owners not the clubs.
This is true, and this is where a huge separation between clubs that own their own fields and clubs that do not will begin. If publicly owned parks stay closed through the summer look for a big influx of kids to clubs who own their own fields.

Here is some footage from practice at rieke. It is very innovative and practices social distancing.

Multnomah county is not even in phase one yet and that field is closed. Why isn’t he doing team training in an open county on an open field?

One lawsuit will put OYSA/ a club under. Too much Legal liability risk for any organization to take. Can’t imagine any games being played for a while.

Yep. We should cancel everything and just sit at home for ever to avoid 1 positive test. Great way to live.

Do you drive? You could die from driving you know. If 1 person dies from driving, we should all stop driving.

Do you run? You could die doing that too.

That logic is exactly what got us into this mess Dipchit. Somethings are manageable risks that have enough technical and measurable data to support risk analysis and decisions like “driving” can be made and the commensurate risk associates with it accepted. This virus is too new, DEADLY, and debilitating to just laugh it off. If you think pausing for awhile is unreasonable then you are the fool and are completely out of touch with the role youth soccer is playing in your child’s life. 99.99% of the kids on the field in Oregon will never make a living from playing professional soccer and the .01% that does can continue to train and work on their skills in small groups and or by themselves and will be impacted in the long run very little. Your incessant need to come on this message board and post asinine comments, like you just did, shows you lack the cognitive ability to informed and calculated decisions and take daily activities like driving for granted

What mess are you talking about? We had hardly any cases here and the cases we did have were the most fragile elderly living in the back of nursing homes. The response is what got us into the mess. People understand the tiny risk of slowly resuming normal life. If hospitals start getting busy, then we back off. With an eye on social distancing, let kids play.

It goes beyond soccer. We need to open our society back up!

I'll propose this: If you want to live in fear at home, you can stay home.

If you want to use public parks to play soccer, you can use them.

This seems to be the attitude of the OUFC families that are training on closed Multnomah county park fields. Rex Putnam coach is setting a terrible example By bringing in kids from all over the city together on one field. Perhaps the director of Putnam athletics should be apprised.
