Originally posted by Unregistered View PostAnd therein lies my concerns- too many people (kids and parents) have not taken this whole pandemic serious enough and will be huge risk factors for transmitting the disease. As a doctor who understands how devastating covid-19 is, statistics tell me some will contract the virus if we begin too soon and in my opinion even 1 kid becoming positive is not worth it, mine or yours. I am seriously considering having my son take the year off and I know I will take a ton of heat from many of you on this site...

For sure
I do see UPDX, PCU, SE, SCA, Bridges, Crossfire kids at different parks in the city, often solo, with an adult (often seems to be a parent), or in groups up to 3 or 4; don't have a problem with it.

What you hear is simply that. What is allowed is up the land owners not the clubs.

Also, please keep in mind that most health experts are calling for a second wave this fall, so unless there is a vaccine that has been approved, and is easily available to access, all of this talk will lead right back where we have been. To quote an a anoying TA Honk, on the 05 thread, "same as it ever was."

Do you drive? You could die from driving you know. If 1 person dies from driving, we should all stop driving.
Do you run? You could die doing that too.
Do you eat? People choke EVERYDAY! STOP EATING!

This virus is too new, DEADLY, and debilitating to just laugh it off. If you think pausing for awhile is unreasonable then you are the fool and are completely out of touch with the role youth soccer is playing in your child’s life. 99.99% of the kids on the field in Oregon will never make a living from playing professional soccer and the .01% that does can continue to train and work on their skills in small groups and or by themselves and will be impacted in the long run very little. Your incessant need to come on this message board and post asinine comments, like you just did, shows you lack the cognitive ability to informed and calculated decisions and take daily activities like driving for granted

I'll propose this: If you want to live in fear at home, you can stay home.
If you want to use public parks to play soccer, you can use them.

With an eye on social distancing, let kids play.
