NCAA recruiting dead zone pushed out again!

What's a kid gotta do to get in front of a coach if they are in class of 2021? We tried emailing, leaving messages and sending video links. Does anyone have a suggestion what to do? We are worried about not having any showcases to go or ID camps to go this summer and fall.

Please understand that the recruiting dead period doesn't apply to JUST YOUR KID. It applies to ALL kids. EVERYBODY is in the same boat. Ask yourself, how can you stand out during this time? You need to come out of this with a plan and be prepared when this "ends"

I realize it's tough, but a lot of this is going to be a waiting game.

Some facts. I am giving you current and correct information. READ!

D1 - Dead period. Coaches may not have any in-person contact with recruits and/or their parents. In other words, coaches are not allowed to talk to recruits ON their college campus, the athlete’s school, an athletic camp or even the grocery store. Athletes and coaches are still allowed to communicate via phone, email, social media and other digital communication channels.

D2 - This link explains ALL of the D2 laws right now. Scroll through, most important stuff is highlighted. This was put out on May 22.

D3 - There are no restrictions here. This was updated May 18. Scroll to the bottom of Page 6.

        There's a reason they're not responding.

It gets worse for recruiting now. CIAC announced today that if they cant play in the Fall, they will move those sports to the Spring. Not considering what that does to the players that need to be recruited with AAU/Premier teams.

No one that’s even remotely good will play HS soccer if that happens.

Completely impossible to manage - too many multi-sport athletes, field use etc. Then yes, what do club kids trying to get recruited do since CIAC restricts dual participation in season? Well meaning but unworkable.

They would have to wave the rule on doing both HS and club. They should make it permanent and like many other states have - you can do both but your priority has to be HS first. No missing practices or games.

I got the impression they're trying to avoid that, even if it means a shorter fall season. Funny how they talk about low, medium and high risk sports but no mention of where soccer fits in there.

What if they moved low risk spring sports to the fall and high risk to the spring? It wouldn't completely eliminate the multi sport athlete issue but would help

Not even considering other sports for now, since this is a soccer board, if CIAC moves the fall HS season to the spring, it would be unworkable.

All “high level” club players will simply just play club, playing both HS and club simultaneously is an impossibility. Mid level club players will likely just choose club as well. Travel/rec players and multi sport athletes will likely just play HS. This will leave HS Varsity soccer looking like JV soccer. Local travel/rec teams will not be able to field old teams in the spring (tough enough already).

If you had reading comprehension you’d know that soccer falls in the medium risk category.

“The lowest risk sports — the ones that do not share equipment and practice social distancing, determined by the NFHS are as follows: cross country with staggered starts, individual running and throwing events in track and field, individual swimming and golf.

The highest risk sports — where there is constant contact which could lead to the spread and transmission of the Coronavirus — are football, wrestling and lacrosse. Every other sport falls in the moderate risk category.”

                              Read the last sentence above.
