What is next for the Portland Thorns Academy

Here is the real question for the Portland Thorns Academy. What is next or what should be next.

Current status is up in the air.

Probably a deposit to hold your spot. They can figure out the details as they go.

    Hurry though, space is limited.

OYSA silver is right. Then they lose to the Super Kickers rec team in the presidents cup semi-finals.

Every day that goes by and every other GDA club who announces their landing spot of ecnl or GAL, this gets more and more embarrassing for thorns and reign.

You go to PKs and you just never know.

If they get admitted to the ECNL then they are “in” like every other team. Embarrassment is in the eye of the beholder. Just as having the last laugh is. While it is not announced yet if they are in, Please keep sharing your thoughts, it only makes the last laugh that much sweeter.

                Sorry shouldn’t laugh.

They should just form thorns after high school try outs. Pick up all the scraps cut from HS teams.

                  We shall see

We shall see. The Thorns academy has been a black eye on the organization. If ownership puts their money behind it maybe this will be awesome.

Who knows only time will tell. It does seem the ENCL folks are pretty concerned due to the amount of activity on the board. I am pretty interested if they know something we don't?

Maybe a partly subsidized ECNL team or even something with a major uniform brand. The Portland Thorns first team is a model for women's professional sports. Maybe we are on the verge of something special for our female athletes in Portland.

Ownership has injected millions into their Youth Academy and subsidized it for selections, maybe your are confusing them with local neighborhood soccer that has parents pay for their kids and also cover the other kids who can't afford it...errrr scholarship.

With the USWNT suit shot down, there will continue to be very little money for pro women’s soccer.

With the exception of SoccerCity USA (Portland) that provides more revenue annually to the Thorns than any club on the Globe. Sometimes it's nice to live with anomaly in our backyard.

Right now, there's very little money for pro soccer of any sort.

In case you haven't noticed, the men are shut down too. Fans aren't buying tickets to see nonexistent matches, TV networks aren't paying leagues to broadcast them, and advertisers aren't paying broadcasters to show ads on nonexistent programming.

End of the road. There is no "next" for the Thornz Asylum

They don't qualify as a club under ECNL rules. Same with Reign GDA.
