She'll decide if/when/where she'll go to college and just enjoy being a student. Dumbing down her soccer experience to play college probably isn't high on her priority list.
"Dumbing down her soccer experience to play college." Okay. You mean like Rose LaVelle or Tierna Davidson or Andi Sullivan or Sophia Smith or Morgan Weaver or Ashley Sanchez? Dumbing down like winning a national title and attending a prestigious university like Katie Meyer?

You're overlooking the fact that she made a decision that only two other players have made with any sort of arguable success - Pugh and Horan. And she made that decision 5-6 years younger than they did. That second sentence is the most important. If she wanted to make this decision at 17 or 18 years old, more power to her. But a 13 year old - I don't care how good she is at soccer - is not mature enough to make a life altering decision like that. Period end of story. And a parent who let her make that decision should be ashamed of himself.

Literally any pro or semi-pro team environment is going to be many levels above even the best college team. So, yes, every single college team would be a massive step down in the quality of play for her.

Life altering? How sheltered are you? Lots of kids move to new schools and make new friends every year. She has opportunities that maybe 1 or 2 other kids in the entire country have at her age. Just because her childhood experiences won't be the same as 99.999% of the other kids in her generation doesn't mean it's a bad experience.

She can already afford to pay for any college she gets accepted to making the university's soccer prowess irrelevant to her future education. She can still have a true college experience if that's important to her when the time comes.

Perhaps you should mind your own business?

Her dad made it everyone's business when he marketed her as a product on social media. I find it distasteful and disgusting. But hey, it beats making an honest living.

Taking money (and how did that work - who signed the contract for the 13 year old child?) which makes you ineligible to play collegiate sports is a life altering decision. It is not remotely akin to moving to a new school and making new friends. She could have had every single same opportunity and NOT had her parents sign a contract and turn her pro at age 13. That decision could have easily been deferred for 4 years. Or even three years or two years. But no. They wanted the money now. They wanted the fame (for her) now. They wanted to make money while she was still interesting...because let's face it. A 17 year old weighing college versus pros is a lot less interesting than a 13 year old making that decision.

It feels like you want to be outraged by something or anything. This has nothing to do with you or anybody you actually know.

That aside, the only thing you've outlined that she's given up is the chance to play soccer in college. Why should she care when she's already better than 95% of all collegiate players. College soccer is already a step back for her.

Is it that you're against kids getting paid to do things? If yes, then I assume you're against all under-18 actors/singers/entrepreneurs/etc. Seems very closed minded.

Yes and no. Obviously, she's a public figure and has lower expectations of privacy.

But it's still none of your business, really.

And nothing dishonest about being a pro athlete.

Will she return to CA? The California crowd said she was pretty good but quite a few others around the same age are MUCH better. Steel sharpens steel. Wonder if her CA peers have outpaced her even more since she left to hide in a weak market. Don’t blame her for her choice though. My kid would’ve jumped at a couple hundred grand. Just go to college for academics and get that priceless college experience with a bunch of money in her pocket. Could even play pro for a couple years first if she wanted. Don’t blame the parents for taking an offer at 13 that wouldn’t come later because there were already better players at 13 and will be even more better players than her at 18. Never look a gift horse in the mouth!

Nobody cares about a 12 year old girl playing soccer. She wasn’t even that good.

                    Todd Marinovich anyone?

Was her dad was on her dad on here trying to hype her? That’s really sad.

Let the poor kids be kids. Let them have the great experiences. Let them grow up naturally.

She's not a pro athlete, but she blew her college chances by taking money.

Being a paid singer doesn't disqualify you from college scholarships

Creepy AF for grown adults to talk about a 13 year old kid by name on an anonymous chat room. You should be ashamed of yourself. If she’s still playing soccer when she hits 18, then go for it.

...but having enough money to pay for her own college eliminates the need for a scholarship to be a part of her college experience. Plus, she can still get an academic scholarship if it ends up being needed when the time comes.

Who died and made you boss?

If a parent wants to come on here and try to hype their pre-teen that is license for people to bash if they want. Most parents have a distorted idea of how good their kid is and they might need a good verbal beat down. It’s only ok if it’s the parent that starts it.
