Does ECNL allow for 2 ecnl regional teams? The 2007 Ecnl 2 is already out of the south branch. They are under the united umbrella, but they train in Stamford and Rye.

You are asking real questions about soccer in Connecticut. You won't find answers here. Sorry, TS is only used to bash young teens and by dads who want to claim middle school soccer dominace.

The 2007 parents are particularly dumb. 24 kids on the roster and only 18 can suit up for games in this league. All that money for a B team with limited play time is stupid. If you are hoping your kid gets called up to the A team, be realistic, the other team has 18 and your team has 24, if no one has been called up yet, its because they don't think your daughter is good enough. I have never seen this happen in the other age groups. Usually, the 1 team is the bloated roster and the 2nd team is kept small so when the players from the 1st team don't get rostered for games they can come down that weekend and still get play time on the second team. This isn't happening this year with this age group... this is a ticking time bomb.

Covid has made Clubs very scared. Especially FSA, CFC and Oakwood.
They need inflated rosters to help ensure the club survives. Under normal circumstances there are many players on these rosters that wouldn't be. This makes it much harder to move players around to their correct spot.

                        Both rosters are big

18 is small for the 1 team in comparison to other years.

Back to original question, could the reason for the regional team being large because there is potential for a 2nd ecnl regional team?

is a 2nd Regional team even allowed? I don't think so. The schedule is designed for both Regional and ECNL to play same club at somewhat the same time. What would the "2nd" regional team play and when

You don't need ECNL to remain competitive or to send to college. The north branch still places kids in schools without being ECNL. South may be looking to do the same.
