It's kind of how it works at some schools. I don't think the poster meant it's intentional but how it plays out. College football and basketball teams will be more diverse than the average student body at many schools. A polo team? Who even knew there were college polo teams. I think it's safe to assume the socio-economic background of most polo players.
basketball teams are not diverse- at least not good ones
They more often can't afford to participate on expensive swim teams that travel as much (if not more) than many youth soccer teams. Pool time ain't cheap either.

you dont have be on a high priced swim team- you swim against a clock
if you are swimming fast times people notice
you can qualify for nationals in your first race of the season

How do you think that comes about? Years of training.
Don't bother. The poster doesn't have a freaking clue.
Well, some one has to pay to install and maintain a pool. So is that something that should be free? Or should only black people be allowed to swim for free?
Wilton ymca.....325 a year for a kid under 15 and under. 440 for 16-18. S 25 to 35 bucks a month roughly. Cost of a pair of air Jordan’s and a Popeyes dinner. Where there is a will, there is a way.

You are the same guy who thinks you need to be paying Oakwood 2k a year starting at 8 yrs old to train your kid to be a d3 2 year starter when the town ayso travel program would just be fine. Learn to swim at the ymca when the kid is young. If the kid shows passion and has talent, then find him a swim team when he gets older. How many club swimming kids go to the Olympics or get d1 scholarships? Probably the same amount that go to the Olympics or get d1 scholarships in girls soccer.
