Not original poster, but we smoked the GPS NH VERY talent team. I think that is their point.

If you moved as a team and played in the highest division in the NEP you would be playing a VERY talented GPS NH team that would be sure to beat or give you a game, SPOL and maybe a few other teams that are far better than Yankee or Liverpool. You would still be able to go to college showcase tournaments and compete in the top brackets. The parents are being short sighted...do you think this environment is good for anyone? So you are sacrificing your money, your daughters experience because you (not your daughters...YOU) are above playing in the NEP???? Really??? What I am hearing is that you don't want to make the drive for another npl team, or your daughter "wants to play with her friends" yet you are hear begging for someone to approach you, with what offer? You need put the keyboards away, sit down as a team and decide what is right for this group. If you are above playing in the NEP then you need to either stay with GC and suck it up or split up the team and each go their own way to find an npl, ECNL team that suits your D.

Well said. Some parents are just short sighted. My daughter was in a bad club/team situation. We decided to leave--it was such a headache. We found a team that played down but made sure she was with a very good coach. She worked harder in this new team, as she was in a more leadership role and got the opportunity to develop in other areas. She is now playing for a high level team. We make the long trips to central and don't regret it for one minute. If the situation is bad, get out for both your D's and your own sanity. Do not think playing down is a bad thing. Just find the right situation, to transition into an even better situation.

I do think the initial feeling on the 2003NPL team that is good was GC will get this team to develop and win. That has not happened and there is plenty of talent. I just think people are sick of GC and want to move on. Just not sure given this time of year what is out there. The better players on that team are not going to play NEP, just not going to happen. If there was a NPL or ECNL level choice, they would move without hesitation.

Out of curiosity, when did you smoke GPS NH? Got Soccer shows that they have not lost since the birth year change and while the top division in NEP is not what it used to be a 47 to 0 goals for/goals against must mean they have some talent, no? SPOL has had some big wins this year and is being hyped in this thread as NPL worthy based on some early season success, so is the original poster that wrong to question the rationale of the whole "playing NEP to be beneath some of these kids"?

Parent of GPS NH. Smoked is a little strong, but they did beat us (cant remember score) and they were very good. Best team we played IMHO. It was not an official game.

We played the GPS NH team, they are definitely high NPL or ECNL quality. Very good team overall supporting a couple of very outstanding players. Pretty soccer to watch even though WE got smoked!

Looks like sea coast found it tough against some of the competition from down the road last weekend at bethesda. Maryland United and BRYC both getting a tie out of them then losing to Susa.
