Why are Girls DA clubs having Tryouts?

When U.S. Soccer announce the formation of Girls DA it listed off many things that it was going to "fix" - including "tryouts" (below).

Why are clubs like WFF, Boca, etc. persisting with the highly flawed traditional open tryout?

How does someone join (or tryout for) an Academy club?

Anyone interested in playing for a Girls' Academy club will need to contact the club directly for specific information regarding the player selection process. The Girls' Development Academy firmly believes that the traditional open tryout is a highly flawed and ineffective model for player identification and evaluation. The expectation is that Academy clubs move to using a more systematic scouting model to identify and recruit new talents and invite these players to trial for an extended period with the current player pool.

Boca United is a total sh!tshow. The DOC can barely make it to their own games. Go scouting? Ha! He is the director for all divisions: BDA. GDA, travel, and rec. Coaches can barely handle themselves. Spread a little thin? Having open tryouts is the easiest way for them to put out a minimum amount of effort. It's like showing up to practice and the coach does a scrimmage. Time killer, but the appearance of work is accomplished.

Of course cattle call tryouts are a joke and very few if any players will be discovered there. Invites to practices are the way to go. But most clubs will still have them to keep up the appearance of being open to all and the rare instance of finding a gem.

No they can't - clubs get one add on period. From DA website

Full-Time Player Adds: Clubs will have one period during the season at which time players may be added as full-time (either adding a brand new full-time player, a player transfer from one Academy club to another,or moving a developmental player to full-time status).Boys’U-13& U-14teams will have twelve (12)combined player adds to utilize during this window.Boys’ U-15 teams will have six (6) player adds to utilize during this window. Boys’ U-16/17 and U-18/19teams will have twelve (12) combined player adds to utilize during this window.U-12 clubs will be permitted to add players to reach the maximum of 26 full-time players during the add window.Girls’ U-14 and U-15 teams will have twelve (12) combined player adds to utilize during this window. Girls’ U-16/17 and U-18/19teams will have twelve (12) combined player adds to utilize during this window.Clubs that pass a registered player onto a club with a professional pathway will not be charged with using a player add to replace that individual.

When does this window occur most often for the clubs with DA and how long is the window and is the window period published in a way the players would know about it?

Clubs like WFF, Boca, etc. are "persisting with the highly flawed traditional open tryout" because they already tried to "identify and recruit new talents and invite these players" and the vast majority of rational, informed families turned them down. Now it's time to cast a much wider net to see if they can drum up some interest.

Of course not. They don't want players knowing. I can't imagine it would be much past November/December. After , what's the point? You've missed half the year.

Buddy you just answer your own question and prove the other post correct. Add-on are allow. Of course there will be limits on the add-ons or changes as there's always limits on all facets of life.

Is the window to add the entire fall season?

Yes they are allowed but aren't allowed at just ANY time as another poster had claimed (he said "The difference is you can join DA in any point of the season unlike travel"). They are also limited in number.

Only poaching if within the same league. Recruiting a girl to play DA from a ECNL team at another club is not considered poaching and reverse is also true.
