And they are limited in what they can profit from developing talent. That is a huge issue. Make it worth their while and they'll develop til the cows come home

There are a lot kids who would rather forgo soccer playing at a small school like Webber or Southeastern and instead choose the big school experience at UF and FSU and just play intramurals.

My son played on a college team with a large number of foreigners. The vast majority were very good. A lot of the English kids on the team had played in the EPL academies. However there were also a few misses. The coaches don't always see these kids play in person but instead rely on videos and/or recommendations of scouts they have a relationship with. There was a kid from Brazil that was mediocre and one from Ghana that was awful. He could barely trap a ball and certainly did not have the necessary technical skill to play the possession style used by the team. The coach had not traveled to Ghana to see him play and relied on others recommendations. The kids all joked on the team that the coach had got snookered. First he was told the kid was 6'-3" and was closer to 5'-11" and couldn't play soccer.

Foreign players aren't always top notch but on average are stronger that many US players. Coaches also don't get it right every time with US players either.

The U.S. Mens team was unrecognizable against Paraguay. Like Kenny Saief born in Florida but who is an Israeli of Druze descent who grew up in another country and plays for a Belgian club???

There's a reason JK was looking for dual nationals when he was the NT head coach

There were a couple home growns in there too but yes, dual citizenship is bonus for the USMT.
