Than do it. Behaving ethically would draw the negative attention away from your club and team.

Refer to John Quack-zano at your own peril..opinion dufus; not exactly an epidemiologist.

Multnomah county is not yet even in Phase 1...
But statewide Summer Camps & Summer School activities are allowed if field is open to rent/use & you are following all the guidelines to the letter... monitors, temperature checks, distancing, sanitizers, pod size, etc, etc....

Washington Co & Clackamas Co are now in Phase 1
Small group training is allowed in phase 1 (under 10 people) if you keep your distance, size of pod, etc..etc.. most importantly you must have permission to be on a training field from city, county, school district or park district.

Many rural counties in Oregon are punching their tickets to the long haul Phase 2 era starting tomorrow. Lost on all of this is during phase 2 (& of course 1) Recreational Sports that involve participants coming into bodily contact are prohibited to be played on any field or court.

By June 30/July 1 ODE no longer has in place closures at school facilities so some schools will have decisions to make about field usage right after graduation when their contract year ends with teachers, others will have to wait til the end of June.

No matter what it's seems somewhat counterintuitive and disingenuous for school district leadership to open up fields this summer for modified skill training with HS teams in preparation of a 'fall' season when this state's governor has it decreed that no contact sports will take place during phase 1 or 2 and only will happen in phase 3 (when there is a proven cure/therapeutic or reliable vaccine for covid-19.)

Maybe the governor will change her mind.

Opening up fields for individuals to go play with their own "party" seems like it's allowed, having private trainers try to capitalize on this is really quite sickening, but not unexpected given their moral and ethical compass.

      New normal?

Serious question......why is private training sickening? What is being referred to on this thread isn't private and nor is it paid training. But what is wrong with someone offering training for a fee?

The catch here is opening up fields. When the field is open, get your permit and follow OHA guidelines. Set an example. This could be private trainers or small team groups. Just don’t throw your cones out on a closed field in a county that’s not in phase one, and piss on the field like a dog trying to mark off territory you aren’t paying for, or entitled to.

The trouble is parents don’t understand what they are paying for. These panna kings that play futsal are teaching kids tricks that are great if your kid plans on joining Barnum and Baileys Circus

Private trainers don't rent fields or get permits, they have no liability insurance either. Con Men.

uh, what article did you read? The writer quoted State officials and referenced OSAA guidelines. He didn't give any opinion about the virus and what should be done about youth sports.

Nothing wrong with training in a sport that you intend to have a future in. The grocery stores are more dangerous than a sports field, if you are worried about spreading a virus stay out of the stores, don't go to the barber or salon. But sports fields? Come on people, let the kids play, train, exercise before they lose their collective minds.

Agreed. When the park services open the fields let the kids use them. There is a reason many parks are closed right now. In some counties they are beginning to open. If you live in that county go enjoy your neighborhood field. For professionals that want field space to train for money, get permits and use the fields. This is a great time to teach your kids about being a good citizen.

I can't figure out why a gym would open before an outdoor field??????????

Because gyms are privately owned and can control the number of people going in/out, clean equipment, etc. That being said they are still considered high risk. Read this to see why it’s going to be difficult to open public parks quickly, ie cleaning bathrooms, installing sanitizing stations, hiring more staff to supervise group sizes, social distancing, Cleaning playgrounds, equipment, etc

No articles need to be read, unless you are bored and want some light entertainment from the Oregonian's opinion dufus. Clownzano.

The OHA has all the re opening guidelines/requirements by industry & sector they break it down by each phase (baseline, 1 or 2) these are not articles, they are the law for the moment.

OSAA guidelines??? Beginning May 26, member schools control what they will allow to take place at their school facilities with athletic/activities programs, in accordance with directives from Governor Brown, the Oregon Heath Authority (OHA) and the Oregon Department of Education (ODE). ODE has clarified that the directive stating that school facilities are closed through June 30 should be interpreted to mean that school facilities are closed through the end of the school/contract year the OSAA also got rid of their summer moratorium week. Also their current spreadsheet phase 1 guidance is not intended to be prescriptive but rather to elicit thoughtful discussion at the local level among school administrators, coaches, parents, students and communities. Which means it's nothing more than food for thought. With clarity the OSAA stipulates that all Schools and coaches, per OSAA policy, participation in summer sports/activities may not be required.

Just keep the con men off the public rentable fields with 'privates' unless they have a valid permit + proof of their business participant liability insurance. Camps for kids on the other hand are up an running on some of these public fields because they check all the boxes; pay fees for usage, provide insurance & follow strict OHA requirements + they fall under the OHA summer camp category.

What is OYSA’s position on clubs that have been doing team training for the past month in closed counties? The club in question in some of these comments was denied OYSA membership and thus pivoted to becoming a founding member of OPL. Is OYSA still
allowing these teams that have been training through Covid to register again through La Amistad?
