It just dawned on me how to win a national election.
First, advocate for and then resist evolution from economy stifling lockdowns due to a particularly nasty strain of flu/cold. Even as red states open up, stick by your guns and keep everything locked down so the economy tanks worse, and your electorate job and business losses become permanent.
Second, when that doesnt work, opportunistically latch on to an egregious (if not rare) case of police abuse, and encourage, support, fund and defend rioting that damages yet more of your electorates businesses and jobs.
After these two steps, the electorate will be so happy with you they'll vote for your national presidential candidates.
Great job blue state governors and mayors! You guys win the Politically Retarded of the Century award.
