Glad to see we have so many arm chair soccer coaches and child development experts in our midst.

A better use of everyone's energy (instead of posting negative comments about a club you have no interest in joining or finding obscure YouTube videos), would be to support kids who don't have access to sports programs or strong schools.

Be a positive adult and use your expertise and time helping kids who need a little boost.

Negative responders need not reply. Just shows what a jack**ss you are.

Agree. Be positive and support all the kids whichever path you choose or can manage.

The evolution and bizarre funding practice of this outfit is not only disingenuous, while it's true, it may have a small niche for the private training ilk. It's like any capitalistic endeavor where someone is trying to make a buck.

So few Oregon families are attracted to this model; no fields, no coaching, no standards & no fiscal oversight they are irrelevant, they only gain some mention when they manage to recruit other clubs top players to come play in the circus. Since they are on their last legs as a 'club' that is positive aspect, for the renewed health of club soccer in Oregon and Region.

Offer better training at your club and then clubs like ADF won't crop up.
Fields are Delta Park, PCC Sylvania, and Hood View, which meet the needs of players that come from all over the city to play here. In the winter they have an indoor field at MJCC...which the 9 and 10 year olds love on a rainy 37 degree evening! You are just a DOC on here knocking your competition.

I love the knock that if a club doesn't have monster debt and carrying costs of an owned field complex then they are not relevant, especially in this age of Uber & Airbnb

Some clubs even hound families for money for "field funds"...the owner of ADF volunteers himself at Moda to help fund scholarships for his players. This is slinging hot dogs on his own time so his kids have uniforms to wear.

Most clubs have a geography they serve? Looks like this outfit is spread out all over the PDX market place 1. Oregon/Washington Border North of Portland (Delta) 2. villa ridge neighborhood (PCC Sylvania) 3.Sunnyside/Damascusarea (hood view) 4. Hillside district of Portland (MJCC).

The model resembles the SoccerShots kiddie program I see lawn signs for all over the place advertising.

Get your signs ready: Come play in the Circus!

so a club with no B teams is supposed to serve a specified community or geographic area? keep trying!

This post tells the lunacy and naivete of the membership.

Just an FYI a non-profit 501c3 youth soccer org. is not allowed by structure and purpose to have an 'owner'.

He is slinging more than dogs in your direction. LOL.

Clubs that only serve a geographic area are Rec Soccer.

in terms of the demographic that ADF is looking to attract, PCC Sylvania (outdoor training) and MJCC (indoor training) are well placed locations

My beef with ADF is how they over-embellish their accomplishments. Take at look at their team profiles for their 05 and 06 teams. I can assure you that their 06 team did not win at RCF futsal. They were not in the league and they finished 4th at the RCF Cup, actually getting smoked by a 2008 team 8-2.

That is not a knock on the kids, it is on the club's representations.

If you have no home or specified population base to serve, who are you serving?

Also turf fields are in high demand and if you aren't part of a community that assigns your non-profit fields for training & games, what happens when the fields you chase today say they are booked in the future. Bit of an awkward gamble.

Just a quick primer on how it actually works, Rec Clubs also have classic arms and they have a geographic home based on the Rec soccer constituency. See LOSC, WUSC, Eastside, BSC, WT T/S, Foothills, PCU (PYSA), WT & THUSC (THJSL), GPS (Hillsboro), SSC (Tigard).

Only a few stand alone classic clubs out there WT & THUSC are affiliated as the classic arm of the THJSL, PCU is the classic arm of the PYSA. FC Portland strangely (Hillsboro as well).
