What you live in Beaverton or Vancouver? Even more backwater.

Either way, that's a lame excuse. When they had good coaching, UP got word class talent to come here(the Thorns do it currently), so I don't think the backwater argument holds much water. What female soccer player wouldn't want to play in a town where the women's pro team gets 20k to a game?

So what you are saying is that you don't live there but clearly know what it's like to live there and what the mind set is of all the players and coaches who you don't know. You know, when you push the question tip in, once you feel a bit of resistance you are suppose to let up. Not jam it in further.

Portland will get lots of good applicants and won't have an issue getting a top coaching prospect. One who hopefully doesn't just consider players who have played for them for years on FC as their sole qualification for recruitment and then play time.

Portland would welcome any current committed player to change their minds as “we have good money”.
A post from someone who is clueless about women's soccer recruiting.

you're a dope. all verbals. when a new coach comes in he may stick with the 2018 class. 2019, 2020 and 2021 will be up for evaluation. Also no scholarship is guaranteed in the WCC even for players already in the program unless there us a written agreement......dope

So, you are doubling down on your stupidity and by showing further lack of understanding of the world of women's college soccer. Ok, so let's say a new coach comes in and rescinds all of the 2018 offers. You do know that he won't find any takers for the 2018 class, other than scraps as those are the only players left without offers. And in top D1, which includes the WCC, the target players you are after have all been locked up by their junior year, meaning that if he recinds 2019, he will likely not be able to find anything that resembles quality he is giving up. The 2020 class likely has little offered so far, so that class would be up for review and the 2021 class hasn't even been thought about yet. And all scholarships are up for review on an annual basis, in every school. Now run along, the Stupid Bus is about to arrive and they would hate to not have you on it.

Any school that starts rescinding large quantities of offers will find itself without any recruits as no one will want to commit there. Be careful what you wish for.

That's exactly right. So the poster who was claiming that any new coach that comes in is going to rescind offers to commits is a fool. A new coach may take a look at the 2019 class and try to bolster it if they can, but they won't remove offers from 2019 commits who have previously committed.

Depends on how good the 2019 commits are and if he thinks he can do better.

Not only will he look at the commits, but the current players to see which ones he wants to keep and which ones he wants to run off the team.

                      This is a business.

                        It goes both ways.

Kids that have other options will de-commit if they are not comfortable with the new coach.

Coach and player relationship is a big reason for offers and commitments.

You will see changes on both sides.

Again, someone who doesn't understand D1 soccer. Girls commit so early and classes fill so early. So a girl who is going to UP isn't going to have a lot of options to go elsewhere if this is their junior year that they are de-committing. Unless she decides to go to a lessor conference or a lower division. So the 2018 class won't change a bit with a new coach. 2019 class won't either unless some girl wants to change to say Seattle U for no money. The first class the coach will have a lot of say over is the 2020 class.

Again, you don't get it. He won't be able to do better because the better players are all committed elsewhere. Also, you don't really understand how thin the roster is at UP. If he "runs off" any players, he will need a large influx of transfers to make up for them. Linus ran off a bunch of his players a couple of years ago and his program has never been the same. He played with a huge bunch of crummy young players because that's all he could find. And his class sizes are all messed up and his reputation is hurting his recruiting. Linus should just go join Gary Anderson in looking for coaching jobs.

Take a look at the committed players and maybe you will have a better understanding.

With players committing so early now there are plenty of transfer players every year.

This is not American football, you only need a few players.

OSU sucked before those players got in trouble (and others quit) It is not like they were good and then they were bad. OSU sucks and Linus has never been a good recruiter that is why he is not getting the top players.

OSU went to the sweet sixteen and was starting to be a consistent tourney team before those players got into trouble. It was a turning poiint for program.
