I think there are more than just one or two reasons but all the more power to the kids that end up there bless their hearts.

Sure it’s fun kicking butt but doesn’t help with soccer development. BesIdes, the Thorns is subsidized so the girls are basically being paid to not play HS soccer.
Thornz Asylum players wouldn't make their HS's JV team anyway so it's not a big loss for them. Better to stay hidden in the GDA playing top competition like Burlingame.

Truth. I don’t support the gda haters but I also don’t support the ecnl bashing. Both programs have pros and cons and either league can be good for a player. It’s nice to have both options in our small pond. It’s a good thing, not a bad thing to have choices.

Nothing hashanged in this little fishing hole in Oregon.

Club Soccer is available for all.

HS Soccer is available for all.

If you don't want to play local club soccer or HS Soccer you can tryout and be selected for either the Timbers MLS or THORNS NWSL DA program.

Only thing that's changed actually changed in our state is we have an actual DA presence with the Portland MLS & NWSL franchises.

And what a presence it is! Hard to believe that the Timbers could make such a mess of it that the GDA is actually WORSE than OYSA division 2, but they did.

If you don't want to play local club soccer or HS Soccer you can sign up any time for either the Timbers MLS or THORNS NWSL DA program.

Guaranteed playing time and meet and greets with celebrities is something you only get with the NWSL Thorns. No other club in Portland offers it. Makes it different.

It’s not playing time it’s starts but same cool factor.

Are autographs with thorns pro players included in the $2,950.00 cost or are there adds on’s.

FC Portland ECNL 2001 did pick up a 4th place finish in OYSA premier, which was a great result for them. Kids should be proud.

I think they are included. The only add ons are try out fees and $300 per trip show case fee. Still the cost should be less than ECNL. Not as high of level as ECNL but a little cheaper.

Agree. Tryouts are over and players have made choices best for them. Good luck to all the Oregon girls, regardless of patch.

Heard Thornz are still looking for 6-7 girls for each age group so they can submit a full roster of 18 to US Soccer by the end of the month.

So did they fill the spots with players from the 4th place fcp team.

Looks like Eugene’s 01’s are going belly up. Two starters spotted playing for Westside this weekend. A 3rd rumored to be joining them.
