Complete waste of time and money. Just look at both crossfire and fc p college commits and the state of their 00 teams.
If you look at ALL the Ecnl teams, they are are losing to USYS teams if they are having to play outside of their gutted league.
ECNL has proven superior to GDA in every event where the two have gone head to head.
No matter how much you lie it does not change the proovable success ECNL clubs have with producing collegiate players. What have you produced? It all comes down to results eventually... not baseless posts on an anonymous forum.

And before you tell me I'm wrong, please let me know how many meaningful National team games against quality opponents have had any academy player (or ECNL player) from Oregon rostered. The answer is zero. Add all the academy or ECNL or GPS or "Oregon Premier" teams and clubs you want. The quality of the output remains the same. Oregon players don't make the national team.

They are not the top team of a club team pyramid in the same way say Crossfire Premier (DA) or PAC NW (Local Club) offers to their kids. You could argue they are not a “real” club in any sense, missing the thousands of Rec, Select and Premier playing kids in the lower levels of a club pyramid that would feed into their “top team”. Playing together for years matters and all the Thorns DA teams this year are majority new faces working together. Looking into future years, any of the NWSL supported DA teams (I believe there are 8 total out of 150+ DA and local club teams) will be at a disadvantage over most other DA and local teams, especially the first year at U14, unless somehow the DA product truly recruits all the best players in OR (the no HS rule doesn't phase an elite player), but even then, they will not gel at the start. Plus, OR’s best players struggle regardless against higher population markets’ and competition. The boys US Soccer DA side operated their U12 and U13 local DA league trials for a reason!! Elite players playing together earlier is a no brainer. I knew a kid from Portland that headed over to play and live in a Portuguese boys academy at 8 years old! I am not saying gelling together quickly cannot be done, but usually you are winning early in these situations more from elite players individual abilities, not stellar team play. Clearly, National team pools bring kids in from all over, but let’s be clear, OR’s pools of players are not consistently of that caliber and our teams would all benefit from forming earlier not later. It will be a consistent challenge for the Thorns in this home market of OR to compete against any team, DA or local club, if their rosters change frequently.
But as is always the case, many of our rec/classic locals will still reach down to 5 & 6 year olds as their entry point of player selection and evolve and adjust over the next 10 years as their elite players gravitate to the Timbers & Thorns DA every year and yes many will return to the club scene if the DA level is not a good fit.

But let's be real. US soccer has an agenda to show that girls who want to be called into US camp need to play for GDA. Taking a player from one of the GDA teams affiliated with an NWSL team, to play in a game against an incredibly weak opponent, when one of the regular callup keepers was injured, is not a sign of national team quality players on Thorns academy's rosters. It's a political, low risk move, designed to send a message to girls on ECNL teams.

Go have a look at the USWNT u17 record over the last year or so. Then curl up and feel stupid for a while. We won’t tell.
