Actually the parent made the situation a thousand times worse. Son should have been urged to confront the bully and deal with it. Life ain't fair and mommy and daddy won't always be there to clean up for jr.

White people's world. When a POC defends themselves, they're 100 times more likely to be suspended or shot. Take off your rose colored glasses.

There's no question you need to be resilient but in this age of fraternity mentality Kavanaughs boofing and triangling while plying girls with alcohol to have baccanals on the beach then becoming your Supreme court justice, it's not really a possibility to stand up for your rights any more. They have been replaced with entitled boofing red-faced abusers.

Better teach your kids to VOTE. Call out the boofing orangatangs and get them out of office for another 50 years. (and build some humanitarian values into our culture)

Racism is NOT a rite of passage, Besides, the kid (and parents) "dealt with it for four years" -which is 3 years and 364 days too long. If we don't raise our standards as a society we're going nowhere but down.

...and this was organized group bullying that was condoned by Tantasqua Regional High School

He 'dealt' with it for 4 years because he never dealt with it.

Tragic that we live in a time and place where blaming the victim is the go-to defense.
This racist bullying is child abuse. Do you condone that crime, too?

Where do these bullies come from? they are not born bullies. They learn this behavior at home.

In reality, it's probably one kid who picked the attitude up from parents that starts these things. The rest go along, as they'd rather be part if the group in power, rather than associated with the kid being picked on. These are the kids who have decent parents, who really need to drive home the idea of standing up for those being bullied. Probably just takes one or two of the bullies friends to say something, and the bully would back down. Teach your kids to be comfortable calling someone out when they are doing something wrong, even if they are a friend.

It is not child abuse because it is happening among peers. Peers need to sort out their social issues among themselves first. Bringing in parents, school officials, lawyers, etc. does nothing to address the underlying issue. Punishing the racist child is likely to create the loonies we are seeing lately.
