But it Doesn’t exactly justify the lying and propaganda that they spread to attract players just as the Ecnl clubs did. Doesn’t exactly justify the mediocre resume coaches who are kind of a joke. Yes, they do pay the bills.

Local clubs tend to answer to parents who are mute. If they speak they are let go.

Thorn NWSL and their DA attract players. No foolin.

'other clubs' have feed the DA for both boys and girls, that's just how it works when your dealing with a professional club and the acquisition of academy level players.

Let’s all laugh again at the thorns liars. You guys are desperate. Sorry, your sorry coaches aren’t getting anyone’s players unless they are doing it for giggles their senior year.
It’s too bad that GDA didn’t do well here in Oregon.

Same outcomes as the local neighborhood clubs who played against the best in the Pre DA US Club league. It's too bad history is never taken into account, instead hashtags and airline miles are the impetus of these avoidable tragedies.

There are high school JV players and ECNL B team players on the thorns. Ouch!

Especially when club Soccer in Oregon is a diluted expensive mess.
Who says they invest millions? Source please.

So if my kid isn't very good and wants to quit soccer would I be able to sign her up? If she got to wear the Thorns kit it might inspire her to do more juggling in the garage on her own and get better. She isn't very fast and has a generally snotty attitude but Thorns would be a fun place to go. Do they get to practice at Providence Park and use the locker rooms?

                  U19: 2-0-2.

Other than the U16s, which appear to have CU's and GPS's leftovers, not terrible results. Certainly against far better competition than either ECNL or OYSA.
By your own numbers they have lost 12 games and won 6 against the bottom feeders of the league, but spin it however you want.

Have a look at the Peregrine books.

All in each kid costs around 20k per year and they have 5 teams of 16-20 players.

The families aren't on the hook for the entire cost of being in the DA it's subsidized by the the Thorns.

This is a pro club that has a paid technical director and assistant director. Not to mention a coaching staff that's all paid as well. This is all an investment in the local girls while the local club scene is dedicated to expensive pay to travel on the parents dime.

Every year the Thorns teams have been dead last or 2nd or 3rd from bottom in a weak league. The Thorns were gracious enough to build it but they didn’t come. The few that did come have all ditched to play high school once they got committed. I feel bad for the Thorns who are one of the few GDA teams to subsidize costs and are trying. When you have girls from ecnl and oysa committing to the same or better colleges, those top players have no reason to give up local club soccer or high school soccer or other activities to play on a weaker team in the academy.

They need to lower the price. Too expensive for me.

If parents can afford expensive college who cares what local club they play at and playing at a DA level isn't a fit for nearly every single Oregonian girl. It makes sense nearly all girls get the opportunity to play high level recreational HS soccer and have the chance to travel for giggles with the neighborhood club. It all boils down to having the disposable cash. No girl is playing their way out of the ghetto and getting full rides from Colleges, at least not here in talent starved Oregon.

When all the current top DA programs were in the US Club (former ecnl) the Oregon neighborhood clubs who signed for the US Club travel affair were actually below the bottom line. These teams set records for goal against that will never be broken in the modern era. Refreshing to know the Thorns DA at least puts out a better product than the neighborhood club, not a surprise though.

If you have a child who wants a higher level of training and has aspirations to play at a high level you can hope that there are options in Oregon to provide that type of training. It may not be California level but at least they are trying to provide something beyond club whether it be DA or ECNL- Crossfire.
