Sorry your club sux
They do a terrible job of developing players.
The only reason a fair number of players move on from GPS to DA and or success in college is because of the enormous number of players they recruit / purchase through acquisition.
On a percentage basis, GPS' development success rate is easily the worst in the region.

You must have been one of a handful of lucky people. Would never recommend or go back.

Current GPS parent who hasn't posted yet - Have other daughters that played at NEFC and a NSL Club.
The only "bad" experience we had was at the NSL club.
My opinion on NEFC/GPS, has been that it truly depends on the situation your in or want to be in realtive to the talent level of your player.
NEFC has the skill day practice, which I think is great. There is alot of benefit to this. Some coaches were good, some not so much, they have their internal squabbles and scandals like every club. They have alot of talent on the girls side at least, which is great for them, however if you can't make at least their Regional A team, the regional B team experience is like every other B team experience - expensive and not worth it mostly. Also even on the top teams playing time can be an issue as competition is fierce. Good players sit more compared to GPS. As you move up to the elite levels their treatment of players can be very cutthroat, somewhat dishonest about playing time. But on the Flip if your on these teams they are generally very strong, so even if you get borderline playing time you still benefit from practice with more strong players and most likely bragging rights.
GPS uniforms are ridiculous, that is the truth, highway robbery. On the plus side teams are generally smaller, so if you are a good strong player you get to play a ton and develop that way. Its thin so injuries can hurt the team's performance but if playing time is important you get rewarded more for it here than at NEFC (Out of necessity, yes). NPL is their top level, which for those who feel DA/ECNL is the way to go then you'll have to move along. For multi sport athletes NPL is not a bad thing. Coaches at the same as everywhere hit or miss, when you miss it sucks similar to every club.

In terms of roster size - GPS on the boys side (especially at the older ages) has rosters with 21+ players. It is disastrous from a playing time perspective - many players playing only 50% of the game - even at showcase events .... not good for matching/timing the college coaches who can only come to a game for 20 minutes or so at a large showcase like Disney/Surf/Jeff Cup.

Not here to defend GPS, but issue you describe is a club soccer problem

You see this more and more at my kids previous club - GPS. Bolts definitely the leaders in quality, experienced coaches.
