That's what happens when two guys are allowed to make a decision on behalf of their failed buddy. ECNL, and by extension US Club are disgraced right now by their leadership.

We have a country that teaches that hard work pays off and then you get a bunch of Lymies in here that teach you its better to blow people. smh

At U16, that team is the best of the club with the D1 FAU coach. But even that team is playing at silver/bronze levels. They just came back from Jeff Cup. Not a great weekend for that level of play (they should dominate) and not in the showcase bracket. That may attract Polk State and Miami-Dade CC, but definitely not what used to be on the sidelines. Top schools are gravitating to top leagues like GDA and ECNL. They may not have all of the best talent, especially from south florida, but that is what the business model is doing. Clubs like Team Boca, Sunrise, Pinecrest, etc. are being left behind. A sh!t club like BU, while doing horribly at that level an deservedly so, still has their foot in the door.
Your rational was great until you lumped Team Boca with sunrise. They aren't on the same playing field. I anticipate a drop with Sunrise in the near future, hard not to but they are the best club in South Florida hands down right now. Shame ECNL and DA works so politically because they do more with less than any club around.

Still treating State Cup as the premier competition is wrong. Boys definitely suffer by not having access to the DA. Look at their recruiting numbers. On the girls side, they need access to GDA or ECNL. The 1-2 decent girl teams are still only competing at silver level tournaments. And those tournaments will become less relevant as the GDA and ECNL expand.

I think the rec program in Boca Raton at SABR is a really nice program. I also think having USYS state level travel soccer is good too. If you look at top clubs in the US and they offer all levels. You can't do that if you don't have one united club in Boca Raton. Build it the right way and people will come. Boca Raton is a great place, with the right people they could do great things. It's time to think outside of Boca United and Team Boca and start thinking bigger.

Sunrise was the club to beat these past years. But I believe their dominance started to end about 3 years ago. That's when ECNL made its way to south florida. BU and Weston become the top clubs for competition (not for success). Before that, everyone was on the same level. Each club was playing state cup, FSPL, SRPL (R3PL), CASL, Jeff Cup, etc. It was an apples-to-apples comparison. Sunrise kicked serious azz and won the recruitment game. Then came along the GDA this year. Sunrise, while a strong club, is no longer competing at the "new" top levels. Could they make it in the ECNL or GDA? Probably, but that doesn't matter. This latest action by US Club with FC Prime hammered the final nail. The absolutely best they can offer their players is 3rd level soccer. That is the same as Team Boca, Pinecrest, etc. Good for some players, but not the best option for the best players.

Yes, SABR is an excellent program and access to state level travel is good for some players. But because they cannot offer a pathway to the highest level of youth soccer, the club is creating multiple missed opportunities. Players eventually top out and have no where to progress. By doing so, Team Boca is positioning itself to be an advanced rec soccer team versus a powerhouse recruitment source, like it used to be. That is why the conversation shifted to an ideal pairing with Boca United. BU has zero lower level rec soccer compared to SABR. Their "pre-academy" teams are currently loaded with a mix of players that either were not selected or not interested in the GDA, plus rec-level. That is not a good combination. You cannot put serious players with those that just want to kick the ball. Team Boca is good at that by separating their white (1D) and navy (2D). If they added the GDA into that mix, all levels of youth soccer would be covered. Top flight, serious travel, rec travel, and rec (SABR). From a business viewpoint, the revenue would be fantastic! The shear size of SABR produces an unlimited pool for advancing players to the 2nd and 3rd levels. GDA (or ECNL) would be the capstone team for in-house players, plus those from surrounding clubs. Get rid of the egos that run both of these clubs and it could happen.

Make it happen and you would have my vote to be the Mayor of Boca.

Yep. Team Boca well run without the connections. Boca United a craptacular.
