Like someone said, owning the club is where the money is at. Granted there's also insurance, travel, field rentals or a mortgage, ref fees, tournament fees...But there's a reason there's so many clubs. It's profitable.

2500 kid × 1850 registration fee= 4.625 million. We are a non profit organization. We are doing this for the love of soccer.

and they get to keep all of it. They don't have to pay the leagues to play, no insurance required, no electricity, coaches are volunteers, some have to pay for fields, refs are free. there are no such thing as scholarships for those who can't afford the fees.

Most U13 to U19 coaches, at advanced travel level soccer, earn $6000 to $12,000 a year, per team. Most coaches are independent contractors, and get hit hard with taxes. Unless you are full-time at a club, no benefits. This is part of the reason you see so many young coaches, and good mature coaches leave coaching. It is very tough to support a family coaching youth sports.

First off their is an operating cost. The operating cost is very minimum. 0ver 80% of the profits generated from registration goes to the board members and directors. The remaining 20% is the operating costs. Please don't pretend like it not a tax free business.

Directors shave pay and get bonuses. Try $2k a year. Big money for the directors and executive directors.

Coaches I feel your financial pain. The reason you don't make more money is because you are a lousy coach. Having been involved with youth soccer for many years I can say, you are overpaid. You probably spend 200 hr max coaching. The 200 hr is spread across roughly 10 months. Basically you are getting 5 to 10k a for 200 hr. The coaches will through the 10 months work in their to confuse parents about the actual time spent coaching. Coaches you are very luck your pay is not base on results. If this case some of you would get nothing.

For sure - "non profit" clubs are non profit in name only. They slap together a board with a few pals for kiss a ss parents who want more PT for their kids. The board does whatever the "owners" want and approve their substantial salaries. The club offers a few scholarships and calls itself a non profit, but ain't no charity

Maybe you should try a different club, the one we used to belong to paid the league and ref fees for one league, if the team played more than one then it had to pay for that one. The club paid for the teams state or region cup entry fee and ref fees. All the coaches were paid. They gave out about $12k a year in scholarships, paid the town for electricity for lights on non practice nights. Paid to register every player in either FYSA or US club, some teams both. Paid for background checks for all volunteers and coaches. Helped pay for coaches to take the classes for a higher license. Gave registration discounts to team managers. Bought all equipment used for training including goals, paid to have fields lined every week. There is plenty to it if you want to take the time to look.

That's asking a lot in North Florida.

You are correct that is why most big club spend 80% of their revenue on salaries. 20% is use for operating cost. Please don't mention equipment. Clubs use the same equipment for multiple years before new equipment is bought. During the use of old equipment every year, club are still charging players equipment fees. The referee, leagues, and team expenses are all paid by the team. The coaches expenses are all paid by the team. The tournament fees are all paid by the team. Please forgive me for not believe your bs. Basically you collect the money, Nickle and dime the team for more money, and say you ran out and need more.
