Nefc has lost its way. It focused for too long on crushing other clubs, and now it seems that it is hemoragging players.

It is time to acknowledge that US kids can’t play soccer on the world stage.
        Time to move on

The quality of soccer seemed better just beyond a few years ago. There were more smaller clubs, run by people that were doing it for the genuine love of soccer. Teams and players had grit and were like families loyal to each other. Then the big corporations took over, and coaches, clubs and players sold out. People bought into the sales pitch that bigger was better
for all, and followed their peers and their checkbooks to the next best thing. Have they really gotten better at soccer? Now you have training sessions with 30 kids to one coach, coaches on sidelines on the cell phones not engaged, and maxed out rosters with less playing time. The average kid might have regressed in their soccer skills, but at least they can brag that they play for such and such big name club.

You can also add that with the smaller clubs, which have mostly disappeared, kids were less afraid to make mistakes and played less scared, but just like land line phones, it's become "those were the days".

Land line phones evolved into cell phones, a better means of communicating all around and an example of progress. Not sure that can be said about the direction youth soccer has taken. Soccer is soccer, and skills are skills. Big box clubs for the masses have not pumped out more players ready to play at higher levels, rather they’ve shut out many that can’t afford to play anymore and are left with limited options . There should definitly be a small but effective platform for the player that is truly committed to the absolute top levels in soccer, and are willing to make the sacrifices to go the distance. For the majority of players, they need good coaching , and reliable leagues and teams without breaking their bank or folding every year or two.

Like Stars hasn't done that over the last few years.....lets point out that every large club expands their regions or buys a small club to expand this is not an anomaly to NEFC

And every large club that expands fails to pay attention to quality and they tarnish their brand severely. Nobody is running to Beverly Hills and paying that money to shop at the Walmart on Rodeo Drive.

The Stars image hasn't tarnished from their growth.
And yes, everyone runs there and pays the Beverly Hills price.

The OP says this new region is supposed to compete with Stars and the link to the press release says it will serve “Paxton, Holden, Sterling, and northwest Worcester”. What Stars region is in that area? Don’t other clubs (GPS, etc.) already have a presence there?

FC Stars Worcester has a boatload of Wachusett and Quabbin area players in the club.
GPS is not that prominent in this area.

Boatload? Hardly. NEFC will pull in many this June for tryouts. Stars Worcester is not strong at all.

Brilliant move actually! I’m surprised it took so long! Nothing mediocre about kids in Wachusett district!
