I said it was anecdotal. There are over 500 kids in her class and she cranked off about 30 names of friends and classmates. The point was, all her friends and close acquaintances got in which leads me to believe that well rounded students with good grades and scores get in unlike the pervasive chatter on here that deserving Florida students get shafted.

The top end of that spectrum will be heading elsewhere.

That is not a convincing argument to your point and feels more like a political baiting.
Upon checking my history I see 3 kids who were all accepted to UF/FSU/UCF, two in honors. One chose Rice, one chose UF and this last one is looking at Carnegie, GT, Duke - if FAFSA and academic scholarships come through. Won't know until the emails arrive. If not, UF is a fine back up school.
Point is, while we do ok we are not rich. No vacation in the Hamptons and no German cars in the driveway, 2nd generation Americans. Study hard, get good grades, good scores, stay out of trouble and your kid should be ok.

The article says specific diversity, gender, and geographic breakdowns of the UF applicants were not available as of late Monday. As if UF doesn't know that information to give the reporter!!!!

It uses the Coalition Application to search the world for the students with the highest numbers to recruit. Without the higher numbers it can't move up to the number 5 best public university spot. It will never end. UF can however find 65 million dollars to build a new baseball stadium.
