Nothing shady, virtually every soccer club in the country offers some scholarships. From AYSO, town travel priemer, DA even MLS paying DA teams like DC united charge some most families and others are given scholarships.

Be grateful your son or daughter is getting to play with some of the strongest players in the area if he/she loves soccer this will only make them better.

Shady is collecting donations and then not building fields. One is getting rich from running NYSC. Coaches are well paid but all the money the collect goes back in field rentals, coaches and scholarships nothing shady. BS had many fundraisers but money was funneled to MK fund he paid his MK soccer coaches with BS money... That’s shady.

1 truck, 1 car, is a definite yes. 1 truck, 100 cars? .... Not so sure a reasonable case can be made. Tax the heck out of businesses and maybe they will move businesses to CT and MA borders and make RI residents come and get the groceries and home goods they need.

From the article..."State residents would pay discounted rates as low as 3.5 cents a mile".

Note 3.5 cents a mile. Not zero.

And what do you think the chances are that once they implement the 3.5 cents per mile toll for residents that they will not look to increase to plug the massive deficits????

          Enjoy the kool-aide

It’s not finalized and when it is it’ll be just like Rhode Island - you should get out sometime to see, feel the world ... stop reading months old stories and without actually throughly reading- and I quote “ preliminary report” “ years away” “ new CT Governor Ned Lamont seeking the tolls for out of state Trucks only”

BTW I like Koolaide it’s cheap and damn good with ice on a hot summer day- much better than the pizzzzz water Jizz man provides for you.

Did anyone even read the link? It said 40% of the $1B it would raise would come fro out of state trucks. The rest come from us and out of state cars (plenty of those on the road too). Would you rather raise the gas tax? Read below

"The preliminary study sets toll rates for state residents as low as 3.5 cents per mile during off-peak hours if the driver has a Connecticut E-Z Pass. The average trip made by a Connecticut driver on limited access highways is 12 miles, DOT said. With the discounts, a 12-mile toll trip would be 42 cents off-peak and 53 cents during peak hours, DOT noted. "If the state were to raise the equivalent amount of revenue from the gas tax, it would require an increase of 67 cents in addition to the current 25 cent [per gallon] gas tax, or a total of 92 cents on every gallon of gas," DOT said.

Some will take a hand out and some will not. All good.

How is it a hand out? Why not view it the same as a scholarship?

If is comes from an endowment or a sponsor, I think it is akin to a scholarship. I would differentiate that from having the rest of the team or class have to carry that player or student.

                          First toll bill filed

"Senator Bertstein's bill would call for tolls on all vehicles. She said she doesn't believe Rhode Island's 'trucks only tolling' will survive a court challenge. Governor Lamont has consistently said he is only in favor of tolls on out of state trucks."

Shocker .... another tax on the middle-class working stiffs. Why don't they just take our entire paycheck and give us back what they think we need? Wouldn't that be easier?

Is there any doubt the money raised from tolls will be pi$$ed away and none of the fiscal issues will be solved?

Pi$$ed away might be an exaggeration .... it will be nice to expand existing and create new programs for those with little inclination to work or to enhance the earnings of people that have close personal relations with lawmakers. For all of the wasted dollars of projects that were destined to fail; a second chance with more know-how this go-around. At some point, it will trickle back to those that earned it, right?
