If so, when do these things typically get announced? Can you start an informal national search before the current coach has left and the position officially opens up?

Depends on the contract. D3 schools aren’t going to fire someone under contract. They don’t care enough. If his contract is up, they can let him go, but my understanding is that is decided the year before the contract expires. So if he’s being let go, he already knows it. Other option is a one year. But in answer to your question, they won’t start a search until they’ve announced a change. I wouldn’t bet on a change either. NESCAC schools are usually pretty loyal.

Word is that his contract is up in the spring. If they wait until that time to start a search it would put the team in a tough spot next fall. Here's hoping the AD is making a move, the coach already knows and informal feelers have been put out there for a replacement.

informal feelers? please. The AD mishandled the long time coach, rushed into hiring this one when others were more qualified and had better connections to school and now ... the AD is the one that needs to go

the Ad caved to parents and definitely needs to go. Who wants to coach in that environment, knowing the school won't have your back?

I think the previous poster was referring to the Men's Soccer team coach, not the women's team.

Agree with you about the AD and admins, but the poster above was talking about the struggling men’s program.

No... the women's team. They sh1tc@nned a long time coach because of some fwad dad. Then hired a coach with zero connection to area, recruiting, etc and now Ad needs to go

Wrong again numb nuts. Above poster was talking about men’s program. The new coach has actually done a nice job with the womens program. Good hire!

Hey jerk weed. The poster talked about the awful men’s program record for the last two years and said his contract was up. The women’s team has done fine, but yes, AD sucks and didn’t support the long time coach. But the poster was talking about the men.

Men's went 1-13-1. Women's went 6-7-2; not much different than 5-7-3 last year but still well within the "it's good enough for D3" performance.

I am curious when the Women's team head coach change was announced last year? Does anyone have first hand knowledge? I am trying to understand when a change might be announced on the Men's side if the AD decides to make a change. Shortly after the banquet in December or not until late in the Spring? Thanks.
