    SWC Girls 2019

    Newtown - Pomparaug - Masuk - FFND

    Do the rest matter?

Certainly Weston doesn't - Coach is always a bridesmaid but never a bride... doesn't develop team - just plays for that year's win which never comes... not a surprise.

ND won't fair well this year. Other than TD, they have very little. Lost the bulk of their team over the past two years.

How much decelopment happens over 2.5 months?

Individual not much. Team wise plenty. What formation, set pieces, PKs, understanding who a coach can trust, substitute pattern, play time for backups, etc

Newtown, Masuk, Weston and Pomp are my top 4. Imm, ND, NM and Barlow join them in SWCs.

Newtown graduated their leading scorer and a few seniors and has one very notable player.
Masuk graduated their up top fast kid and has one stand out player and one stronger player.
Weston didn’t lose anything but was just above average last year. They have one stronger player.
Pomp lost 11 (?) seniors including both keepers and their strong kid in the middle. They have no stand out players.
Immaculate lost 12 (?) seniors and their top player. It wasn’t their strongest team last year. No stand outs.
ND has their very strong up top player for another two years.
NM and JB were average at best last year.
                    IMO:
                    1) Newtown
                    2) Masuk
                    3) ND
                    4) Pomp
                    5) Weston
                    6) Immaculate
7&8) A battle between JB, NM, Bethel, Brookfield, NF and Bunnell

One of NM's best players transferred to Imm. Bethel is having trouble fielding a JV squad and graduation gutted marginal NF and Brookfield teams. It's Barlow and Bunnell for the 7th and 8th spot.

This list needs to be reworked. 1 & 2 will be tight. ND needs to be dropped because they are left with nothing after graduation. TD can't do it all on her own. Weston should push up to that spot because they did not lose much at all and only gained experience. Its a rebuilding year for many of these teams.

I disagree on ND and TD. They will send her long all game and she can run the entire 80 minutes. She will slip through and get a goal or two to squeak out a W in most games.
Weston has experience but not enough talent. I agree with a lot of rebuilding for this year. The definite top two are Newtown and Masuk.

Above post said they lost 11 seniors and the GK. That's always going to hurt.
