abusive coach - leave and take rest of team with you
    insane parents - ignore
teammates that are bullies - also ignore within reason
a mishandling of money by the team manager - maybe stay, maybe go - depends
unexpectedly high expenses - also depends. Cant get blood from a stone. If the costs are not as advertised, families may have to leave.

For the rest of the season the girl was miserable and it killed her love of the game and she eventually quit playing altogether.

There was zero reason for that poor kid to remain in that toxic situation and take away her love of the game.
Your club has a lot of class. All of the other parents should have left.

We left that club at the end of that season as well.

Well, it sounds like the OP in this particular case is now left with a team that will at most have 10 or 11 kids showing up to play 11v11. So it impacts them.

Is there is a younger team you could borrow a player or two from?

Easier said than done sometimes. Need schedules to line up and lots of multi sport kids as well in spring plus roster can only max out to a certain amount.

Yes, Club shouldn't have picked them but it's the parents responsibility to have a bit of a clue.
So then blame the parents ( victims). Priceless.

Head coach did everything wrong. A lot of coaches don't want to deal with parent nonsense but sometimes its vital that they do. Crushing a kid's spirit is inexcusable. In cases where it's just a bad fit clubs should let players leave if they want - ultimately its the club that gave the offer so the mistake is on them. But of course the bottom dollar rules so clubs take kids they shouldn't and then won't let them leave

This is why more serious players leave lower level teams. The want teammates that are committed. Clubs also need to better communicate expectations for commitment. If they want multisport athletes then they need a bigger roster

Should they leave in the middle of the season though? Expectations were laid out and seems instead of thinking of the team they committed to they just quit as season was about to start.

OP here and if they're leaving without some very good reasons that is wrong. LAX season starting isn't a good reason. A kid being completely miserable, to the point where they want to quit the sport? Good reason. Thing is, once someone is mentally checked out they may as well be gone altogether.
