You develop this argument and use it as a way to promote smaller players, but all you are doing is cherry picking to fit your narrative. Almost anyone who reads that can see right through the Texas sharpshooter premise.

Why do parents get so salty about "size/speed/agility athletes"? Simple, because their child was passed over, so they search for a reason that is easier to tell their kid while also feeling better about it themselves. It provides comfort.

Watching USA-Canada. No game for small players because refs let Canadians break Americans legs and no yellow cards. Amazing.

That's the Mentality of why we're laughed at through out the World when it comes to our Soccer. Its a physical game so Modric, Messi & all the other smaller players have to sit it out. What a Dumb Arse you are.Do us all a favor and STFU Idiot.

Actually sizes are mixed. In some positions it’s better to be big while others only speed and quickness matter. Any size can play with a proper skill set. Better to be big and skilled if quickness and speed are the same. That is generally not the case. Very few big guys can move like Messi. In drag out ugly games you would rather have a bigger player that is good in the air. In other wide open games it matters less. That is why Zlatan can play till he is 50. Look at a roster. Many players over 6 ft and many under. Not many under 5’7” but a few.

And how has your big kid turned out on the International Stage?

How has our obsession with speed and size, as if it is American Football actually translated to any National team success?

Best solution would be at U12 and below segregate by size or weight instead of age . Isn’t that what football does .

honestly, i think this issue is a bit overblown. in my kids age group (right in the middle of where sizes really vary for boys), I can think of 3 kids on my sons team and maybe 1 kid in the same age group on another similar competitive team, that are really good players only lacking in size. the coaches appear to be aware of this situation and are patient. playing time for these kids does suffer, however, but the coaches at least talk about the potential of these players in a year or two. These are kids that are behind in either bone age or puberty or both and who have all elements of a successful player except for the size that is required. the key is for these late bloomers to survive u13-u15 with their passion for the game intact.

Nailed it.Our Coaches just don't understand the game & our World Ranking proves it.Yes there going of the same concept of Football not realizing Soccer is a completely different game.

We proved that last week when our u14 team schooled a u15 team...if we only thought the bigger is better ,the elephant would be king...
