Since their best team is finished playing youth soccer (DA platform) the club moved the rest of the younger teams out of the high level DA platform of just 2 age groups and joined US club soccer league that allows for 5 different HS aged teams for the coming year, smart moves for the club. Understandable given the economic demands of 5 coaches wanting to get paid in traditional club setup vs just 2 coaches in the DA. Business decision.

First off Oregon has no elite players so it's meaningless in our state.
The hotbeds of our nations elite players have never given a second thought to giving up the recreational platform of HS to play DA, they do it to move on to High level college or professional soccer. BTW the top college coaches are ecstatic their recruits are not playing HS.
No need to sacrifice common sense for your devotion to HS Soccer. Touching sentiment but worthless as it relates to the elite players in the country.

DA banning high school is a huge mistake and hurts recruiting.

In this case, not ALL of the top clubs are pulling out of ECNL. Yes some of the top clubs like Slammers, Eclipse, PDA, etc... pulled out this year.
DA still has Surf, Colorado Real, Solar, etc...
It looks like ECNL will have an advantage over DA in terms of number of top quality teams, but it is far from ALL.
It was a mistake for US Soccer to start GDA because they did in fact split the talent.

It is true that some don't like HS, but there is also the same amount who don't want there players doing DA either and burning out before they even get to school.
Most are indifferent on DA vs. ECNL. With DA you are basically adding 2 more showcases.
When you say top college coaches, you should look up North Carolina and Stanford's opinion on HS soccer. It is well publicized. They are pro high school.

the girls DA is in its 2nd year and the top colleges gobbled up all of their top talent this fall without any thought they didnt play hs..
things have changed, sentiment for hs (the way it was) before DA will tug on the hearts of many, but disappears when you want a program changing player...why do you think so many internationals are recruited to the top destinations? no soccer tied to school..simply great year round club players.
if top colleges refused DA players you would have at least a fact to back up your emotion based fantasy.
all the best
