Get with the program...
Total contradiction.
What program are you recruiting for?

Timbers DA is an utter disaster. The U-18's are in 6th place in conference, not close to a playoff position. They're behind all other MLS academies in the region, only ahead of non-MLS clubs. Meanwhile the U-16's are in 7th place in conference, with a 10-19-2 record, only ahead of two non-MLS academies. This is after how many years at this level? Put more money in, scout better, get better coaches, coach better! Rubbish!!!!

Of course, if you're trying to recruit players to your own club-maybe BSC or THUSC/CU, then it makes more sense.

How do you explain the Timbers DA being the worst MLS-club DA system?

Now if we had these area codes 213, 310, 323, 424, 626, 661, 747 and 818 we would rule.

A lot of us don't have kids in their DA and as others have posted, why do you feel the need to continually go after the Timbers DA?
I think that you are one of the DOCS or HCs who currently have a DA and are hoping that you can promote your club as exactly what the Timbers DA needs.
"A moderately successful academy here," is just what they have right now:
U15/U16 team is in 7th place ahead of Santa Cruz Breakers and DeAnza Force
U17/U18 team is 6th, ahead of Juventus Sport, Deanza Force and Santa Cruz Breakers

Their current position in standings, or previous years, is not moderately successful.
Our area codes are not that of other regions like CA or WA, but with only one DA club in this area, why can't we be more successful? Not asking to criticize the Timbers, but what can be done differently? Crossfire Premier continues to be successful with the free Sounders around the corner.

That's where the players have been chosen from primarily over the last 5 years and we don't have the horses to compete with any MLS DA let alone any top independent non MLS DA club in the country. It's been that way for 40 years. Not a criticism it's a cold hard fact. Abolish the idea of a top flight DA coming from our local provinicial area today, for starters. Rebuild the infrastructure of the OYSA and create top flight club teams that can someday be feeders for a a 10 year down the road DA as a goal. Or continue to witness every so called elite girls club team or DA team get smacked by the big dogs. This cycle isn't getting any better staying this course it's only going to get worse before it ever gets any better. You can invest in a time machine and return in 15 years and perhaps by then we have a competitive DA teams from 503, 541 & 360.

My god people: we have a large enough population and a broad enough talent base if all the top players played for the academy but the timbers have chosen to go a different direction. reality is that results for the timbers academy across all ages for years is and has been poor because they have picked money over results and talent. Nobody can debate that. Those that try to debate either have a vested interest economically or have their kids on the rosters and realize if the masses really paid attention they would be exposed. Until the timbers make a fundamental shift in their approach and objective nothing will change. I think most have a pretty good picture of what the true landscape is at this point. Timbers: do you really want to have a winning academy that puts homegrown players in the pros or do you just want to make money? Either way it's ok just do t mascarafe as a club that wants to do the prior and operate like the later because it alienates a lot of your paying Mel's fans

SoCal MLS DAs also bring in players from across the border-Tijuana MEX
I'm sure there are others that rely on reaching out well beyond what's right in front of them, even in the heavily populated areas.

The system is fine. There are success stories happening every year whether you want to believe it or not. Team trophies shouldn't be a priority until the highest level. The clue is the name...Development Academy. They seem to be providing the training and playing opportunities for the right players to thrive. Ultimately, it's on the individual player to find the drive to make it to the highest level if that's their goal anyway.
