attended both ADF games this weekend, and wanted to say that FCP and Westside were both class teams and parents. we were lucky to get out of FCP with a tie, as they threatened constantly all game. Westside moves the ball very well and they carved us up for much of the first half. both games could have easily gone either way.

quality people and soccer. nice weekend.
I very much agree with this. This could have very well have been a 3-1 loss for ADF If not for a favorable offsides call that turned into a penalty kick for us and the instant where the referee could not see the end line and called the ball out (this play would've been a goal for FC). Hey, all in all it was great soccer and we must remember that referees mistakes are part of the game and that's what makes soccer interesting. We should feel very fortunate to have escaped from liberty high school with a tie 😀

what did the style of play look like?
Did they use their GK's to reset the game and get out of pressure? If so, about how many times did they do it?
How many overall punts were there?
How many switches of play? (from one side of the field to the other?)

More thoughts on ADF vs Copa:
1) Evenly matched game through first half and first fifteen minutes of second half. Lots of beautiful passing from both teams; Westside often did better at maintaining possession, and was generally able to move the ball upfield against intense ball pressure from ADF. Each team scored in first half.
2) ADF played a very physical game--not a dirty one, but very physical. Seemed to get the better, somewhat, of 50-50 challenges; had bigger, stronger players at several key positions. ADF also more liberally used its bench, with at least one or two "platoon substitutions" (more than half the players on the field being replaced at once).
3) Midway through the second half, ADF nets game-winner on a Sportscenter-worthy blast from thirty-five yards that landed perfectly in the upper 90 of the Westside goal. Westside keeper almost got to it, but to no avail.
4) Towards end of game, Copa seemed to break down somewhat, and got a bit frustrated. Players started to tire and started getting beat to balls in space. Late in game, ADF scores insurance goal on a penalty (the call could have gone either way); and one frustrated Copa player got booked for dissent with a few minutes left.
5) Crowd was behaved for the most part. Some dissent from the sidelines late in the match, though nothing serious. One of the "senior refs" was at the match (the CR was apparently a teenage boy, only a few years older than the the players on the field), but I never noticed him correcting anyone in the crowd. As often happens in sports, the more assertive team got the benefit of the whistle--but Copa can't blame the officials for this one.

Which COPA kid did the coach blame for the loss. The winner is the kid subbed out first who did not get to play again.
