Really...USA has the best players on the team? It is too much about who knows who. What about open tryouts vs. the current scouting system. Too many players from the same clubs or colleges being selected. Doubt an outstanding player on a losing team will ever get selected for natl team. DA is getting bigger and bigger...not consolidating best players.

You have to admit that Soccer is a different animal compared to the other major sports in that it is truly a worldwide sport with strong leagues all over the world.

Has anyone heard of the 9th best soccer league in the world? I believe we all have. Had MLS been ranked 9 vs 10 in this report (which could have easily been the case based on parameters), would that have changed your narrative at all? I think so.

my point is the 10th best league is irrelevant. Talent is poor. It is for people that have no option to see quality but love the sport. They shell out money to watch an inferior product. Every once and a while, a washed up player who can no longer play in England, Germany, Italy or Spain, comes to the US to play in MLS so fans can say they saw him play, even though it is below his prior elite level of play, he is still better than 99% of the other players in the MLS, so he looks great relatively speaking.

It is like if you lived in Iowa and all you could go to is single A baseball except that at least in that case, you are seeing future major league all stars potentially. Rather see young exciting future great players vs older players on the decline who are trying to make a big payday

The fifth ranked league? The fourth? The seventh?

What you should do is simply go look at the number of national domestic leagues that exist across the world in soccer. Tenth out of so many isn't really that bad.

As for national leagues for basketball and other sports, well beyond basketball, ice hockey, cricket and rugby, how many sports actually have multiple domestic leagues? There's certainly not one for American football.....lol.

Yes it is......that's why the league continues to fail. That's why the league can not support an academy system like the the top European leagues can. No real stars. As soon as someone is a star, they switch leagues and you have to subscribe to some obscure channel in the 900 range on direct tv to see the player again.

OK, realizing now how dense you are, let me explain it for you.

At best, these would be subordinate levels in our own domestic league (NFL). I know you are trying to make some point by referring to the NCAA and High School as national domestic leagues, but dude, you know they are not.

Now the CFL, that's a domestic national league. But outside Canada, how many domestic leagues are there that play American football? Let's scan over in Europe.....nada. How about South America.....nyet. How about Asia and Australia......nope.

Two national domestic leagues playing American Football. And over 112 national domestic soccer leagues across the world.
