If they are merely good players, they would have been cycled out long ago. They must be showing the decision makers (plural) what they want to see in order to keep coming back. They must also be giving NT coaches a sense of upside potential that they might be elite players 5-10 years from now.

There's little doubt that they got help from JD in getting those first couple of looks from the NT. From there, it's all on them to prove that they belong. Complain all you want about JD's outsized influence in getting his kids NT chances, but to say that the kids don't belong there after numerous camps is crazy.

Why is there no NEFC girls after one year of ECNL and two years of DA? South Shore seems to have cracked the code.
NEFC girls have been called to camps, and they haven't stuck.

Nonsense. How many of JDs YNT 2000s are lightning up College ?

if you think its always about being "good" you are lost. which is not to say these player aren't. They are, but the older ones are not exceptional and most certainly benefit from familiarity. The youngest may be, but time will tell.

Does that article mean that us soccer will head in a new direction on the girls side?

lol..really? you dont need to look far. Like i said, just look at the last crop (2000s), several of whom got several YNT chances. Is there an exceptional player with elite level potential among them? lets say for arguments sake there was 1 (and im being generous because I dont think there is) why did at least 7 get chances?

if you honestly beleive the last part, then im sorry, but you dont understand the camp environment very well.

who is a better player OW @ ND or MK @ D ? Who has more YNT caps?

How many of NEFC's invincible national champions every year 2000 team are? One sort of? One in a weak conference? This forum was always arguing they deserved to be there.

Agree. Same staff, same connections, same results. By U20 the YNT's are weak.

Maybe they would have more success against Ghana YNT.

you miss the point. Im not from either camp. I can make a strong case the none of them deserved more than one and done. the key to success at these camps is having someone in the room who is going to explain away your mistakes and use whatever you did well as a reason to bring you back. the issues JD has/had are not with individual coaches. Much more with those in overall charge and f you think his relationships with the coaches who call up and ask is broken you are delusional.

EVERY kid in camp is going to make mistakes. EVERY kid is going to have bad days and EVERY combination they pick is going to be able to beat 90 pct of the teams they face. so you will never get a true read until its a big game vs a good opponent at a WC.

if you think we took the best players to the last U17 or U20 WC, then i beg to differ strongly. We had a kids who made one of the rosters who went to ONE camp and kids who didnt who went to EVERY one. How does that make sense? it doesnt because its no perfect science and at some point scouting stops and coaching begins. If you happen to get under the bar at that point its pretty easy to hang around

Not the key. The key to continuous call UPS is to be consistently great, at camps, and club, be coachable and work hard. No one, even at stars, will argue those 2000s got called in cuz JD was an asst coach. None of them ever got called to the U17 team. Today with the internet, social media, etc no one is getting overlooked. Some with connections may get a foot in the door earliy, but you must produce. There are many in this U17 cycle, from other big clubs, that are HEAVILY, connected. These kids keep getting cut, but always reappear whenever there is a camp with bigger rosters. This cycle has its work cut out. 6 key players out with ACL injuries. It will be interesting in they can make a deep run.

There are better 01 and 02 players out there than the 04. Against fast, aggressive defenders the 04 has a tough time.

I would think so, but if that's the case, I'm sure they will pass on her.

not true. and i have a kid who goes to camps regularly. im just honest enough to say so. Tell me again how consistently excellent in Club the older MA kids were ? Stars were a joke at GDA 18/19. Awful. so now it only the U17 team that counts as a YNT call up? btw ..your info is wrong KD did.

You have no idea what you are talking about honestly. you dont. Production is subjective in club because the competition is variable. Production vs 90 pct of the teams the US face is frankly easy.

they probably wont because the USSF HAVE to show you how smart they are. they always take a younger player even if there are better older ones. its all about the early IDing to show you how well it works. Problem is once a coach has attached his wagon to a "phenom" they never let go until its far too late to look at others.

Like i keep saying, just go look at the 2000 birth year.
