There is no $$$ in soccer in the US plain and simple.
Since 30% of Baseball and 25% of Basketball players are foreign we must lack "elite level athletes" in these so called lucrative American sports as well.

This is the same nonsense from a week or so ago. Football and basketball are sports predicated on physical attributes. Not a ton of learned skill at an early age is needed. Soccer on the other hand is predicated on skill. We have a skill deficit not an athletic deficit.

100%. no amount of athleticism will teach you how to use your off foot. it may get you there faster, but it's all skill learned thru repetition.

easier to say this than to back it up....So of the millions and millions of kids that start soccer (and in many programs youth soccer starts at 3 and 4 years old) we still have a skill deficit after all this time? I suppose you also have no knowledge of ACTN3?

You can bring an entire army of trainers from france and spain to train the americans starting at 3 and 4 years old but it will not make a difference (well maybe a little bit)....but the us will never, ever, ever win a world cup...ever...The us will never have a fifa ranking higher than top 3 ever....I MEAN NEVER EVER!!!

You could have all the skill in the world but if people are blowing past you left and right you'll never touch the ball to show off that skill. At the tippy top you have to have fantastic skill AND fantastic athleticism. And most americans that have both have chosen other sports other than soccer.

Again, we aren't talking about how we do on average. We are talking the unicorns.

You don't need learned skill to play football and basketball at an early age? Uh, you are seriously wrong in that assertion.

what is your definition of "fantastic"? I guarantee you that what you think is "fantastic" is just par when you consider the "best" of the "best" of the "best"....its a very very deep blue see out there....fyi....you are correct Americas best most elite athletes with the genetics "Midichlorians" are playing other activities....It pays a hell of a lot better than soccer.

So what? It doesn't change the fact that the majority of players in baseball are American including many of it's "top" stars. And even with the immigrant factor, it's not the same as soccer because the majority of top immigrant baseball players come from places like the Dominican Republic and Cuba where baseball is the national sport. So those countries unicorns are playing baseball, not soccer.

I left out Venezuela, which is also a baseball first country. The majority of foreign born MLB players come from those three countries.
