I'm note sure what your point is. They pay into ECNL at some level, correct?

Ummm, no. A kid that plays on a regional team in the NEP doesn’t “pay” into ECNL unless they, you know, make an ECNL team and accept a spot. Just like a kid that plays on a regional NEP team at NEFC doesn’t “pay” into GDA.

Maybe you’re speaking in code. Lol

I assumed they were referring to how their ECNL teams were called last year (East = A, West = B); aren't they Blue and White this year now? Then you have the two more Regional teams which were NPL teams last year.

Being "Elite" certainly lost it's luster.

Well, the difference is that since Stars leadership also has leadership positions in ECNL, you are, ultimately "paying into ECNL". So, the more teams they get to call themselves "Elite" and into that league, they more they are "Paying into ECNL"....which benefits Stars even more.

Great work if you can get it. Just be up front about it.

So all of the other clubs that have teams in different leagues aren’t set up the same way? NEFC has GDA (added Pre-DA this year), has multiple NPL teams, then their Elite teams in NEP, but Stars bothers you because they have 2 teams per age group in ECNL? Just trying to get it straight.

Not bothered, but since it's 4 teams (2 in ECNLR and 2 in ECNL), that's an awful lot of so-called Elite.

All the other clubs pay into the league. Stars collects it on the back end.

Cha-ching. Good on them! See a hole and exploit the living shlt out it. Love it.

If only you had the foresight to join up with a group of clubs around the country to create a league for female players 12 years ago when US Soccer was building BDA and ignoring the girls side. If your club had taken that risk back then they could be on the board of ECNL now. Guess what? GDA, NPL, NEP... all of these leagues are pay to play. Pick the one that’s right for your kid and stop crying about the “ECNL mafia”. If you hate the league, don’t have your kid play in it. Pretty simple.

Again, I'm complimenting them. Why so defensive?

They found a hole, put down the rules, gave the F-U to their competition, and ride the cash. Fantastic business model. Huge kudos.

Just know what you are paying for.

Those clubs do not pay themselves. Yes, you are correct on one fact and that is that Stars paid Northeast NPL last year. This year they just changed everything to be under the ENCL banner, thus essentially paying themselves.

As one of the founding members of ECNL, they also have some control in how the ECNL licenses are dispersed and who gets them thus creating their own competition within the league. This explains why they just made themselves a second ECNL, a third ECNL-R and a 4th ECNL-R.

Smart for whoever figured out that quadrupling your elite teams also quadruples the income.

When NEFC renames their regional teams NPL, do they make less money?
