    2019 ECNL blue - ECNL white - RECNL 1 + RECNL 2

Over the past three years doubled their elite teams and eliminated paying league fees to GDA, and NPL. And they opened and expanded their own facility. Well played
They also expanded the age groups to start earlier and now have a pre-ECNL. Can you say money maker? Pulled in clubs that had better teams than they did. Market to insecurities and FOMO of that ECNL badge. They never have to prove themselves against the best in the state again. They have name recognition and really that is all they need to carry them for now.

Stars and Scorpions top teams play in ECNL

sss and NEFC top teams play in GDA

Age groups for GDA now start earlier with the NEGDL

Why is this just a Stars issue?

Stars Cup this weekend will have these teams playing each other (with the exception of SSS), along with any other “top” MA teams that wanted to enter. Also PDA, STA, World Class, SUSA....

What “top” teams in MA were excluded from this tournament? Some may have chosen not to participate.

Correct apart from U14 where SM won’t let his group go. He will also do anything to win that man. He has got 3 U15s playing this fall in a “trapped” rule. True hustler.

SM isn’t necessarily my cup of tea and my kid doesn’t play for him, but the “trapped player” issue is a big one—those 8th graders who are not in private school or in a town that has a waiver to allow them to play HS as an 8th grader would have no team to play on in the fall. Not to open a can of worms, but this is a shining example of why the move to both year was stupid.

Kids are trapped. A coach can't arrange for that. Statistically that's about how many kids have Sept 1 to Jan 1 birthdays. They're lucky they can play down in the fall as not all teams and leagues let that happen. For girls the age/size differences matter less by then. Boys are still growing at vastly different rates.

“They never have to prove themselves against the best in the state again.” LMFAO with this quote.

Look at the ECNL lineup, both in their division and nationally. FC Stars (and Scorpions for that matter) need to “prove themselves” against PDA, Slammers, Michigan Hawks, So Cal Blues, etc.

Do you think they give a crap about “proving themselves” against the Select’s and Liverpool’s of MA? And if you are so concerned about those matchups tell those clubs to show up at the Stars Labor Day tournament.

Not generally considered a Stars advocate, but ^^^ THIS. No offence to anyone...but Stars' Blue teams are looking at bigger prizes than local clubs. Just reality.

It's like complaining that the Patriots never test themselves against the Randolph Oilers.... (look 'em up).

Using the ECNL name is basically just for a $$$ grab while they still can as it becomes more and more diluted.

That's it. Gullible parents believe it and hope it still means their daughter is special. Give the coaches something to sell.

It brings the teams in house from NPL. It's all about marketshare. Nothing wrong with that. These are all businesses first and foremost. The sooner people come to realize that the better.

Agree. White, blue, west, east, central whatever. The top 20 in an age group has become the elite 80.

You realize that everyone knows that ECNL and ECNLR are different levels, right?

Just like GDA and NPL (if you’re at NEFC or Sss) or NPL and NEP (if you’re at GPS). They re-names the NE NPL. Get over it.

You realize you sound a little like you must be on east right? Oh brother.
