Second, if you look at the list of schools above, nearly all of them are very hard to get into, with a huge percentage of qualified kids getting rejected from these places every year. Recruiting is an admission ticket--it can get your kid into a school that they otherwise might have little to no shot at.
Apparently GPS parents would respectfully disagree with you.

If you are on a top team in a top league college is the goal. All other teams are made up of players that simply play for the love of the game.

Colleges recruit players, not teams. Even being on a top team doesn’t guarantee you’ll be playing at a good college. In fact, 80-90% of them won’t. Just love the game for what it is.

Good college? By who’s definition should we all base our decisions? There are top teams that have 80%-100% of their roster transition to college soccer. Being on one of those top teams is a major advantage.

What gives with the censoring on this site now? I posted this non political non controversial comment amd it gets blocked?

Parents of boys have a harsh reality to deal with. In addition to above, foreign players take a good chunk of scholarship $. Now, in the days of Covid schools are looking to cut costs. So far two men's D2 programs have been cut as well as loads of men's and women's less popular sports. Scholarships could be targeted moving forward. Every men's scholarship they cut means they can cut a female one. 21, 22 and 23 recruits also have to contend with 5th year players and deferrals from this fall (who will get priority for spots, $ and playing time). Targeting the right programs will never be more important than it will be the next few years. That may mean compromising on the school or quality of program (which won't be worth it for some).
You need to be a highly desired recruit to land a spot let alone any $

There are already 3 class of 2022 boys that committed to North Carolina.

There is a talent level, and degree of recruiting interest, that 99% of parents in Massachusetts could never wrap their heads around.

Recruiting is happening everywhere despite the pandemic. The added variables for 2021-2024 will serve to weed out the bubble players that were RINOs (Recruits In Name Only).

Most of what you say is true. However, recruiting may be happening but in a limited fashion. There were no games in the spring, no ID camps in the summer and a dead period in the fall.

Did you make up RINO or is that a legit term?

Very true there isn't much top level talent in the state and any national level talent will be scooped up right away regardless of the pandemic. However, that leaves many mid level players looking at mid level programs struggling to get seen and secure a spot. 2022s and 2023s will suffer the effects of players staying a 5th year, red shirts and deferrals for this year's freshman at programs that weren't playing. Classes will be smaller for awhile.

No, I made it up. Maybe I should trademark it.

This is VERY true. I've been trying to explain this. That's not to say classes will be small every single year for every single school, but trust me when I say it is wreaking havoc on our recruiting boards and IS and WILL impact our recruiting through the 2024 classes. Generally speaking, there will not be as many spots in college for the next several years. For those of you who keep saying very few players will stay on because of money or academics.....we would pay our top players the same money and forego bringing in someone unproven, and there are quite a few who do want to stay to keep playing. Even if they graduate, and are just taking "graduate classes." You will not see entire classes staying, but if our top 3 players stay, that could comprise anywhere from 30% to 60% of a class so that means 30% to 50% less recruits we'd be bringing in.

My colleague at one of the Ivies had many roster players defer this year, so they were forced to call some of their 2021 commits and tell them they were deferred to 2022 and some 2022 to 2023 (because with no scholarships they are only allowed so many roster spots) All of this is having a very significant impact on the recruiting picture on both sides.
