when looking D3, take a good look at the NEWMAC schools too.

NESCACs are prestigious, not quite Ivy, claims you can be proud of at suburban cocktail parties. Enjoy that. Here on TS... all we hear is D3
1) U-11 thru maybe U-17 soccer
2) which alphabet soup league is better
3) this thing called college that’s out in the future somewhere
And on all those topics you’ll see 1,000 mindless posts for every one nugget of good, unbiased info.
Most posters have no idea what college soccer is actually like or pro soccer or anything beyond a spectator’s view of youth soccer. So yeah, “talking on the spectator sidelines about kids soccer and wondering about how they could play in college someday” would be a better name for the site, but it’s a hard URL to type.

Mine signed a letter after turning down great D3 offers that would have provided him with keys to a group of connected people after college. I let him decide on his path and he took the modest money and playing at a D1.

Mine did the same and had those key connected people after graduating.I too allowed mine to make their own decision .No regrets at all.

Not really exactly on topic but didn't feel like this deserved a new thread either. Just saw that AS is going to be graduating early and signed her NLI for UNC's 2025 class. She had previously committed for the Class fo 2026.

Spring of Sophomore year. Go to recruit website and enter name in Recruit DB.
Summer BEFORE Junior year, attend Camps
Junior Year Fall share tourney schedule and provide major academic updates (GPA, SAT)
Junior Spring is the primary window. Make sure you are communicating, they are watching
First week of July after Junior year. Get Admissions Pre-Read.
Secure coach support IN JULY for your app through admissions ED process
Don't fall for "you can play for us" or "we have a spot for you" Are you a SUPPORTED App?
Assume that attending camps between Junior and Senior year is too late. Yes, even for D3 it is too late. They make their commitments to top recruits right after admissions reads in early July. If you have been talking and they ask you to come to camp again, just before senior year, it could be legit, but proceed with caution. Ask where you are in their process

Mostly agree with above but summer before senior year isn't always too late. Not everyone will be a top pick and not every program a top one. Since showcasing doesn't start in earnest until winter of junior year it's possible a coach only got to see you once and wants to see you more.
Like all else your mileage may vary

it won't always be too late. For planning purposes, you should assume that it is.
