Not if this was Germany, Brazil, Argentina, France, etc.... that is more than likely to win another World Cup before the US ever gets their first..

U.S youth program has made great strides and with u12 DAP it should continue in a positive direction. I watched part of the match and must say that the technical level of the Portuguese players is certainly on a higher level, despite the score. On the other hand, the U.S. players (and coaches) deserve credit for focus and mental toughness. Portugal players are so soft, just an embarrassing collapse.

Exactly how has US soccer made great strides with U12 DAP? Please cite specifics. The players entering DAP at 12 got their skills outside of the program and DAP will only slow their growth. But because DAP is the top of the pyramid (what an appropriate word-as in scheme)), so the best players will still flock there.

DAP coaching is crap. The whole nature of the concept in the US is crap. High technical skills and creativity are the essence of soccer. DAP teaches neither. The most talented players get their technical training outside of DAP. DAP coaching only retards growth.

Well at least the U12 DAP is still alliance based around here and the boys stay with their clubs. The U13 and U14 age groups are f*cked.

At u13 your kid is either a handful of Revs special ones, miserable Revs marginal starter/bench, or Bolts. The u12 teams are approximately equal now, the Bolts will add 7 or 8 NEFC and GPS studs for next year's u13, already in the works.

You can train all day long and acquired good techniques but creativity and vision are gifts only the special ones possessed. Players who are not afraid to stretch their limits and imaginations so they can discover their full potential. You are right some DAP will coached a player creativity out of them bc their are too focus on the system.

And if they have a growth spurt they can punch the taller DAP defenders in the knees!
