Why can't the Thorns Academy/GDA train where the Timbers Academy boys train? Because the Boys are on the field during the precious few hours available to HS aged kids. It's not like the local club situation where you just add more teams to limited space for the sake of getting coaches paid.
Where do the actual Thorns pros train? Providence Park.
How about train there? When they become Pros of course.
With this logic you would ask the Rose Garden, where the Blazers play games to open up the arena for youth AAU basketball practice.
Providence Park and the Rose Garden have to run the business of paying the bills for these facilities, donating time to the youth team 5 to 7 x a week while noble, wouldn't allow them to pay the freight and keep the lights on.
I'm sure when an opening happenings at Providence Park they will give time to the Thorns GDA, but they still need a training home.

sucks to be part of another local club that hopes getting hammered in a 'national' league built on the whims of desperate parents and lazy college coaches is enough to stop them from joining the Timbers & Thorns US Soccer development program.
Good luck with that.

I think westside timbers are the perfect team to train them.

The Thorns GDA will need to train on the best fields avaialbe in the local PDX market, looks like THPRD and Westside Timbers can provide them.
Unlike the local clubs who have to cram upwards of 8 teams on a half of a field every weeknight (see THUSC/Crossfire Utd & FC PDX). The truly elite girls (GDA) will actually have space to train and develop.
Thorns securing million dollar fields for the GDA is a great move for the Girls. Nice gesture by THPRD & WST investing in US Soccer's GDA Thorns program.
Wow, that's impressive and appreciated!!
Go Thorns!

Westside doesn't have any fields of its own. During winter, when the only THPRD fields that are usable in the evening are Field #2 at Walker Road, and the turf fields at PCC, those fields do get crowded--with several Westside teams on half a pitch at once. (Don't think I've seen eight, but I've seen four or five). Frequently you'll see several Westside teams training on one half of THPRD #2, and THUSC on the other. Happens all the time.
Westside (and THUSC), being within the THPRD district, do get to rent THPRD fields (along with a few other clubs within the boundaries). Both clubs are required to levy a surcharge to out-of-district players for field access (this is a THPRD regulation).

At some point, will they mutiny? TA clubs already pay all Thorns share to play in oysa and tourneys run by Timbers. When will it end?
