Chambers will jump to Oregon State.

How about the idea that GS is a used car salesman peddling snake oil that gets you on the hook then trapped once you figure out you've been had.
The post to which you replied is very rational. Do you deny the increased competitive landscape in collegiate soccer? It might have been in defense of GS, but it doesn't have to be. It also states the obvious to anyone with an open mind and rational mind.

He needs to go back to the home country where kangaroos and iguanas roam outside the fields and when the ball gets kicked into the water, it's best to just leave it there.

Who want to live in the shadow of Clive and attempt to recruit at Portland? It's hard enough to convince any CA kid to come to rainy Oregon. You then have to turn to in state prospects. Where would you rather go, Oregon or Portland? Phil Knight just dropped 500 million on the already 500 million he already invested in that school. What idiot would choose Portland over Oregon? If Oregon hires a coach that is a real person and knows how to Coach I would expect Portland to get the recruit scraps.
Linus should have been gone a long time ago. OSU is not serious about their sports except baseball. Fire that guy and bring in a good club coach at a discount. New face, same result at a lower price, what the difference. with the extra money saved you can buy the girls extra uniforms like Oregon.

You need to use a better example than that. Phil doesn't care a bit about soccer at Oregon, he's got his hand's full with finding a new head coach for the football team. The concern with Portland stems from people living in the past. In Clive's time, it was easy to get top recruits to come. Women's soccer was in it's infancy. Now, you have dozens of programs who are terrific and dozens more who are up and coming. Too many opportunities for top talent. And with youth soccer developing better and better players, and more of them, more programs are becoming relevant. It's a lot harder to get to the top, much less to stay at the top, today.
