Parents need to calm down. Both ECNL & Thorns Academy are two options for our girls. Both have pros & cons. Pick the option you like best or stay at your local club and enjoy. Posting insults about any option on TS is plain silly.

Just a heads up the upstarts you are eluding too, are dying almost as quickly as they started. No leadership, no fields no coaches they can't build much of a foundation to move forward, other than a website page full of cool soccer videos with tricks...it's very cosmetic and no substance. Whatever motivated them to try is not important, they can't and won't sustain any presence or niche in the market place.

The Portland Timbers & Thorns Youth Academies operate at a level where they don't care what you think, they fund their own youth Academies and the best players flock to them year in an year out, no matter what moniker league your local neighborhood club team plays in.

They are above the noise of the non-profit neighborhood clubs who are trying to stay relevant with mindless club re-branding efforts and ambitions/mantra that might sell in Barcelona and Amsterdam but are not even acknowledged in the American Football, Basketball, LAX & Baseball suburbs of PDX.

This is the U.S.A baby!! not some Soccer crazed nation that actually puts it's resources passion and efforts toward the beautiful game. We get instead the least qualified ex pats who are looking to make a buck off naive parents, throw in for good measure a few recent unemployed portlandia retired 20 somethings that want to stay retired by getting paid to show your kid a few cool soccer tricks and with no formal education in coaching or training methodology and that's the state of the game.

What a bunch of BS. If you truly think the best players "flock" to the Thorns Academy, you really need to get out of your mom's basement and watch some games. Thorns Academy can barely scrape together a roster full of Timber's Alliance C-teamers.

No 'alliance' (never knew there was such a thing) or a Timber/Thorns representative are bashing the clubs that signed up to play in the national league.

The disgust and shock is really limited strictly to anyone with a pulse or brain function in the proximity of the 45th parallel of planet earth, which is understandable given the on field performance of those (2) clubs buoyed by a rash and uneducated elective choice to join said league.

Ever notice that since the Timbers got involved in Oregon youth soccer, the Timbers allied clubs have really been declining very rapidly? And their parent groups have come to resemble the classic "basket of deplorable"?

cray, cray is what started this whole shift to the alternate reality staged by FC PDX, LOSC & THUSC, on there magic carpet ride that created a world where local neighborhood girls clubs became Nationally relevant teams, loaded with top end d1 talent. All made possible by paying for airline travel to various cities across the USA...it's an incredible cray cray development for sure.

Today, it's just fun to watch this train-wreck, the burning of money all in the pursuit of something that has always been there and always will be for the talented girls from oregon, regardless of league affiliation- the elusive partial soccer scholarship at a D1, D2 or NAIA school.

TA u16 2001 team will be playing u17 in OYSA. Where is the schedule? The first weekend Jan.28/29 was listed before but is now gone. The website said the schedule would be posted in December.
