Don't put it past the coaches. Parents like wins. You have to keep parents happy. Playing on age will make them look more successful.

If they could, they would probably play "down" to 03 or 02 so they could string together 3-0 wins all day long.

Even if the Timbers who run the league let them play down they will still enjoy the experience. Wins and goals feel good in big games and in practice.

The "Thorns" name makes the skin between the base of my fingers itch. Let's from here on out refer to them as the Greek Yogurts! Thoughts?

Timbers are in charge of the OYSA.

They sandbagged in the Beaverton cup big time. And still lost.

Thorns want no part of an ECNL league or even playing a game against ECNL teams. That's why they dodged Crossfire challenge and Lake O, choosing to play on age in Beaverton for their "summer showcase tournament."

How would moving up a couple of tiers be "playing down"? GDA Thorns players will be so bad their high schools will tell the Thorns to keep them.

At least the sentiment is the same for the current players at CU and FC PDX the HS coaches tell them to play with their club year round as well, as they are not of the quality needed for HS level.

Good to know it's the same everywhere on this subject matter.

Yeah, that must be why FC Portland had literally dozens of players selected to the state HS 1st teams in both Oregon and Washington. All the Timbers Alliance clubs put together, including Thorns Academy, had almost no girls on those lists.

                        That's a pretty impressive list.

                            Smart move.
Very smart. Some parents are not going to like it. They won't be able to buy little Suzy in.

They are playing down a year in OYSA? How is that possible?
