    Honest

This is probably the most honest thing on this forum today. First I have nothing to do with OPFC. I am glad they are moving away from XFire. They never needed the name to be legit. They are a good Oregon club trying their best for the kids, just like PCU, FC, or any other club.

Not op, the website says XFU is part of the new branding.

Word on the street is XFP pulled the name, which explains the odd timing mid-season club name change.

It was a rash decision to jump form OSSA to XF, seems this latest development was forced on our locals.

In the end its better to be named as Oregon considering that is our home state, not a suburb of east Seattle, Wa.

Good riddens to the name Crossfire in Oregon.

Heard a different story months ago - that Willamette and Lake O were questioning the value of the Crossfire name for boys. Explored Surf and other options and apparently decided to go indy.

But this has been in the works for some time.

After all, Crossfire Premier licensed the name to Yakima... can't have that, for obviou$ rea$on$.

That said, naming yourself after another youth club is just silly. (And there's already a Surf-labelled club in the Pacific Northwest, and they aren't that good).

Rumor has it that Oregon Premier wanted to hook up with an EPL team that mimics their style of play, but since Big Sam Allardyce is presently unemployed, that didn't work out.

Okay soccer savant, why don’t you educate us on what style is best, since clearly you know all ...

Lots of Premier League coaches worth emulating. Klopp. Guardiola. Even Mourinho is tactically sound if boring; his problems were in managing the locker room, not in football tactics.

But Oregon Premier seems to prefer to copy Big Sam....

Career Totals for "Big Sam" --

                - As a player, 578 professional appearences, 42 goals
                - As a manager, 407 wins, 275 draws, 352 losses

Your career totals are what exactly?

Easy to criticize from the couch isn't it ...

I'm not suggesting that Oregon Premier Soccer model their program after me. My record as a pro coach is 0-0-0. (I'm undefeated!)

Though I find it intriguing that you are leaping so vigorously to Allardyce's defense here...

Are you sure Jose is still “tactically sound”? There is an argument the game has evolved a great deal since his the first part of his career.

Defensively, his tactics are sound. Offensively, he's a bit too conservative these days.

But his biggest problem remains that his players grow to hate his guts. When you have Pogba on your roster, you don't park him on the bench to show him who is the boss--he makes more money than you, after all.

Man U was very leaky this year, even with de Gea in goal.

No tactical acumen will save you when your players all quit on you.

And maybe OGS will have a thriving career at Old Trafford. His first managing gig wasn't much of a success, but a lot of being a good manager is getting into a good situation.

Mourinho? I think his career managing teams that contend for the Champions League is likely over, but he can make an excellent emergency manager for teams looking to avoid the drop. He always seems to do best in his first year, so if he's only needed for a few months while a team looks to stay up, and the moves on to another threatened team the next season, he could have a lucrative career doing just that.

Will be interesting to see whether he or Allardyce gets hired next, and where.

With that said, does the OPFC have a skipper at the helm?

3 name changes to the same product within 5 or 6 years that's not a good sign.

Looks like Willamette United has taken over OPFC.
